Dave,With regard to “breaking the Sabbath,” Jesus said in the previous verse, “I Myself am working until now.” Exodus 20:8 says, “You shall not do any work.” So what Jesus did is a breaking of the Sabbath command, but a lawful break, because, as He says two verses later, “Whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.”…[Read more]

David,”Breaking the Sabbath” means what John described Him doing above, “doing these things on the Sabbath.”Likewise, “making Himself equal with God,” means what John described below with two clear examples: “For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.” And, “All will honor the…[Read more]

Dave,YHWH isn't used once in Genesis 1. So how do we know that the “God” spoken of there is YHWH? We're told over and over again that there is no God besides YHWH, and to have no gods before YHWH, that I have to conclude that these other so-called gods are no gods at all. It also seems that whenever these other gods are mentioned, they are…[Read more]

Dave,You say in John 5:18 that the Jews “believed” that calling God His own Father made Him equal with God. This part about the “Jews believed” isn't in the verse. It just says, “For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making…[Read more]

Dave,In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. So, yes, Dave, Elohim is interchangeable with YHWH. The whole point of the Bible is that there is no Elohim besides YHWH.Tim

David,If Jesus spoke in the present tense, why translate it otherwise?Jesus' statement after being accused of blasphemy does not indicate that He is just “one of the gods.” They are the ones to whom the word came (and who fail to execute justice, and who will die like men, eep). Jesus is the one the Father sanctified and sent into the world, the…[Read more]

Hi Nick,I do pray to God as the Trinity. Often evangelicals today don't do this, but I would encourage them to do so. But my church sings, “God in three persons, blessed Trinity.” And we recite the Gloria Patra. But Nick, do you pray to your God through someone else?Tim

David,Elohim is YHWH. YHWH is the only Elohim.Nick,Maybe it is shocking to consider that God died for us. But this was foretold before the birth of Christ. YHWH is the one who said, “They will look on me whom they have pierced.” Zechariah 12:10. And this is the testimony of the apostles concerning “the church of God which He purchased with…[Read more]

Quote (Nick Hassan @ April 06 2007,07:12)Hi Tim2, Do you worship a trinity god? How do you do this? One deity at a time?Nick, You've already asked me this, and I answered you. I worship one God in Trinity and Trinity in Unity. There is only one God, one Deity. You, however, claim to worship God through someone who is not God. So how many gods…[Read more]

Hi David,No Trinitarian believes that Jesus is His own Father. This is denied in the ecumenical creeds. Please don't accuse us of that again. With regard to John 17, do you think Jesus is setting a high standard for the unity of the church or a low standard? The highest standard is the unity of God. I believe that's the standard he's…[Read more]

Nick,The creeds say what the Bible says. You refuse to say what the Bible says, that Jesus is God, so we wrote the creeds to differentiate ourselves from heretics such as yourself.Tim

Nick, David,Right. All those fruits you listed are aspects of relationships. You can only have them in fellowship with other believers. Faith in the New Testament meant being a part of the church.Do Jehovah's Witnesses have fellowship in truth? For how long? Why'd it take them until the last century to appear?Tim

Hi David,I find it odd that you are arguing that there are other gods we should consider besides YHWH.Whoever spoke in Revelation 1:8 is the Almighty. But Jesus says the same thing in the rest of the book.Tim
