Quote but others can be gods in certain respects. Moses, Judges, Angels, Satan and JesusWhich of these so called gods is exalted as before all things, over all things, the first and the last, the one through whom all things were created, the one through whom all things are, the one who made the heavens, the one who does everything the Father does,…[Read more]

Nick, so how come in John 14:16, Jesus said the Father would send another Helper, instead of saying the Father would manifest Himself as the Spirit? Jesus knew how to say manifest in 17:6, so why didn't he say it about the Spirit? Where does it ever say that God manifests as the Spirit?Tim

Hi 94,Sorry, I wasn't trying to evade. I read those points but forgot about them while responding. My spirit is not a different person than me. But grammar tells me that the Spirit is a person, for in John 14:16 the Spirit is called the Parakletos, which by definition is a person, a Comforter, as opposed to paraklesis, which is impersonal and…[Read more]

Quote You don't see a contradiction between YHWH creating the universe by Himself, and also creating it through Jesus?I don't see any contradiction in this. He created the universe by Himself with Jesus and those who would be reconciled to Him through Jesus in mind. God made man in his own image, and Jesus is the finished product of what God…[Read more]

Quote Jn1.1 speaks of two who are God Thanks Nick!  You don't know how long I've waited to hear you say this. :) Now all you need to realize is that the Holy Spirit is not the Father, and you will be joining the millions of Christians who have confessed the Trinity for the past 1500 years.:) :) :) Tim

Quote (t8 @ May 01 2007,17:23)First off Jesus isn't God so he doesn't breach the Duet verse and secondly Jesus (the son) does these only because God shows him, but not from his own initiative. So it is actually God doing it through his son. Likewise we (should) do what Christ does. And when God works through us, we too cannot take the credit and if…[Read more]

Right, Unisage, the psalm is about King David, but Hebrews is saying it's about the Son, spoken by the Father.

Sorry Nick, Deuteronomy 3:24 is pretty subtle.  You see, when Moses asks, “What god is there in heaven or earth who can do such works and mighty acts as Yourself,” he's using a rhetorical device to show that there is in fact no god who can do what YHWH does.  But Jesus Himself says He does everything that YHWH does.  John 5:19.   So, let's see…[Read more]

Thanks Nick.  I have a few more questions, if you don't mind. You say He was begotten in the beginning of God alone.  So do you believe this begetting took place during time, that time elapsed during his begetting? You say He has divine nature.  Can you please explain what this means?  In what way, if any, is this nature different from that of the…[Read more]

I've updated the Trinity verses to take into account this startling revelation in Deuteronomy 3:24:”What god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as Yours?”Jesus does whatever He sees the Father do. John 5:19. Deuteronomy 3:24 forbids that Jesus be another god, for no god can do the mighty acts that YHWH does. So…[Read more]

Hi 94,Thanks for allowing me to take part in your discussion. :) I do not believe there are any Scriptures that say God is eternally greater than Jesus. I know of one that says the Father was greater than Jesus before the cross, but at the time Jesus was even lower than the angels, so I don't believe it to be an eternal superiority.I don't know…[Read more]

Hi David,Thanks again for these posts. I think they're taking the discussion to a deeper level than the usual taunts that go back and forth here. Can I ask you, at this point, what exactly you believe Jesus is? Is He created? Was there a time when He did not exist? Thanks,Tim

Nick,I know you've explained your beliefs before, but could you do it again for us, please? I'm just trying to reconcile what you believe Jesus is. It seems you believe-He's the Son of God. But what does this mean? Does He have the same nature as the Father? In what ways is He the same and different from the Father?-He's a vessel for God…[Read more]
