We can only be born once, as Nico pointed out and Jesus agreed (flesh gives birth to flesh). In my opinion, being “born of the Spirit” has nothing to do with water baptism at all.Ephesians 1:13, 14And you also were included in Christ when you heard he word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal,…[Read more]

1 John 5 – gotcha! :)But still, it's subjective to interpretation. It is not clear that we are to be baptized by this ref to “water” and blood…..

Nick, We've had this conversation already just recently…..My feeling is that no, there was no “risk” in Jesus giving up his earthly life. You never identified the “risk” that you thought existed? The only potential risk would be if God promised Jesus life after death and then decided to break his word (which Jesus knew would never happen). So…[Read more]

t8,Jesus as the Lamb that was slain does seem to receive the same sing-song of praise that is directed to the “one on the throne”. What do you make of this?

1 John 5:7 talks about the three that testify of Jesus. The water, the blood and the Spirit. I've taken this to mean that Jesus was born of the flesh (water), firstborn of the dead (blood) and given approval of his Father (Spirit). So, I agree with you Adam that the “water” is referring to the flesh, imo.Mandy

I believe they were added because they believed…….and then they were baptized. To my memory, there is nothing mentioned about receiving the holy spirit at that time?
