Thanks, Nick. I never would have guessed you were a Catholic. That must have been difficult to give up that community? I know that for my Catholic friends – going to Mass and all the events of the Catholic calendar play very much a part in their daily lives. For me, I have been raised in the Assembly of God church. I went into full-time…[Read more]

He is the Word of Life, that eternal life of the Spirit, having been given to him, became for us too the source of eternal life. ****************OK, gotcha – paraphrased. Um, yes I believe that God gave Jesus his holy spirit without measure while he lived on earth. I believe that Jesus is the author of our lives (that is; our future hope of…[Read more]

By exactly the same means?*****************************Well, my Mama was a good girl, but since I'm the last of 4 siblings it's safe to assume she wasn't a virgin :)But of course the point is that God designed Jesus' conception to follow the natural order of things. It was necessary to fulfill his promised to Abraham and ultimately to…

He is the Word of Life, that eternal life of the Spirit, having been given to him, became for us too the source of eternal life. *************What verse is this? I looked at 1 John 1:2 and John 1:4 and it didn't seem right, unless you are using an amplified version or something? Maybe I looked wrong? Thanks, Nick.

Jesus had two wills,************************I don't have two wills. Jesus was made like me in every way.If I was ever going to entertain Trinitarianism again, this small sentence quoted above has kept me from it. It's ridiculous. It's like saying Jesus was a double-minded man. Who could trust such a man?

“Dualism” – goodness. I'll add that to my list of ever-growing, non-biblical terms to describe our dear Lord Jesus and God. I wonder how pleased God would be to know that he and his beloved son are being reduced to an “ism”?

Surely you would not limit God to the physical world and demand that all must be conceived exactly as men are?**************But God told us that Jesus was made like me in every way. Why would he go to the trouble of saying that? Why would he go to the trouble of finding a virgin?

The sons of God were not the result of any sexual union.******************You mean the angels? Oh, of course they were not the result of sexual union, but then they are not created to show us that logic either. Jesus WAS conceived and then BORN to show us something. Was it not that he came into the world the usual way (that is, the way his…[Read more]

Nick wrote:….and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father*************I was assuming by quoting the above, you were trying to say that Jesus was the “eternal life” that was “with” the Father. Did I misunderstand you? I'm sorry. What did you mean, then?

What do we not understand about conception? The medical scientist have a pretty complete grasp on what contributes to the unborn.John the Baptist was a combination of his parents. We are a combination of our parents. Jesus is a combination of his parents. If this is true, then Jesus is a *new* individual. In order for your theory of a…[Read more]

I've thought about this today.God may have “created” evil, however, I don't believe he “allows” evil purposely into individuals lives. I think we invite evil in and then it has it's way. In other words, God does not “will” that people suffer at the hand of certain evils. To say that God would will someone to be raped, for instance, is a pill…[Read more]

Nick,I'm listening. Is Jesus elsewhere said to be the “eternal life”?

  • Profile picture of Not3in1

Was Jesus conceived in the normal way as we have discussed? If so, then he is a new individual – never existed before – either in heaven as a spirit son or anything else. Why? Because he is a combination of God and Mary. Do you not agree?

  • Profile picture of Not3in1

Yes, God designed the conception process. In verse 16 it points out that before conception and subsequent birth there were no days for the unborn – no existence. This is a curious look at the beginning of individuals. Life begins at conception. But back to our discussion. If indeed conception considers the whole man, as we have discussed; that…[Read more]

Nick, unfortunately we are back to your original idea. I know scripture speaks to both the inner and the outer man, but we were discussing conception. Are you willing to abandon the simple idea of conception as it applies to our Lord's birth? If so, then you will need to find scripture that explains his “conception” as being something…[Read more]

This theory that ALL IS FROM GOD is a puzzling one for me. Does this mean that evil is from God? Does this mean that God willed for me to be abused when I was a young girl in hands of an unsaved Uncle? And if so, does this mean God was trying to teach me something from this evil? Just because an idea is hard to grasp or accept doesn't mean that…[Read more]

1 Cor. 1:9 does not say God is calling us into prayer with his Son. Isaiah, there must be a difference?

  • Profile picture of Not3in1

The Bible teaches us that Jesus was conceived of God's holy spirit and Mary. To believe otherwise is to go beyond what is written, in my *sometimes* humble opinion. :)
