Eternally begotten means “begotten before the ages” as opposed to begotten in time. Before the ages would be during eternity before the first day was established. That is how I understand it.

Look at Heb 2:9 in the interlinear and you will see that David was talking about the “angelous” (strongs #32) often translated as angels but not translated as “gods.”

Mike, Off the top of my head, Hebrews 1 and 2 has reference to this and I have always understood that as angels. I do not agree that all spirit sons of God are considered as, and explicitly called gods in scripture.

The only begotten God is also The only begotten Son. He is not in the category of the other “sons of God.” It is possible that the other sons of God that were made through Jesus are considered gods in some sense. The Arm/Word of the LORD “Jesus” was not revealed yet as Jesus. The Father created and acted upon creation through Jesus, His “arm/Word.”
