Most believe the Roman Empire fell in the year 395 AD. This is incorrect. It actually fell eleven centuries later in the year 1453AD.
In fact, there were over 90 emperors during this latter period of the Roman Empire. Historians called this continuation of the Roman Empire, Byzantium or the Eastern Roman Empire. The period covers Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. The capital city was moved from Rome to Constantinople by Emperor Constantine.
