Thanks for sharing that t8…that's amazing. I have heard of this kind of thing happening. Recently I read this book called 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper. This is the editorial review from Amazon.com:
    Editorial Reviews
    Product Description
Now available in beautiful gift edition, 90 Minutes in Heaven is the runaway bestseller about one man's experience with death and life. As Baptist minister Don Piper drove home from a conference, his car collided with a semi-truck that had crossed into his lane. Piper was pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, he experienced the glories of heaven, where he was greeted by those who had influenced him spiritually, and he experienced true peace. Back on earth, a passing minister who had also been at the conference felt led to pray for the accident victim even though he was told Piper was dead. Miraculously, Piper came back to life. For years Don Piper kept his heavenly experience to himself. Finally, friends and family convinced him to share his remarkable story. An inspiring and encouraging account, 90 Minutes in Heaven continues to touch and comfort millions of people around the world as it offers a glimpse of inexpressible heavenly bliss. This makes perfect gift of hope for those struggling to understand a tragedy or loss of a loved one.

    God bless, LU

Greetings T8……Very thought provoking film….Did you notice she failed to say whether she was in the presense of God or not….she spoke of what she new of peace….and Iam sure this was a very peacefull experience…and an out of body one at that….Iam sure she was not dead…but certainly in a suspended state where her pulse and lifeblood were hardly detectable….For the dead know nothing…

To be away from the body is to be present with the Lord. This has been the case since the resurrection. When Jesus was taken up into heaven, the graves were opened. We live in a time after the resurrection, so things have changed somewhat.

T8   I really want to believe that when I will die that I will be present with the Lord. My Husband says tho that not all will change into spirit being and be with the Lord. The meek will inherit the earth, will they be Spirit or flesh and blood? What do you think about that?

I am sorry, but nowhere in the bible does it say that “to be away from the body is to be with the Lord”.
Scriptures only state that we would rather be with the Lord than to be in the body.
That only states what our wishes are.

Let's say that this is the case, TimothyVI.

Then this is the sequence of events.

  • You die as a believer.
  • You know nothing.
  • You are awakened and in the presence of the Lord.

So from our point of view, when you leave this body you are with the Lord.

I must also note that we live in a dimension of time. This is not necessarily the case in eternity. Many NDE's describe the lack of time and an eternal state as being a prominent difference between this world and the next. If this is the case, then perhaps putting too much emphasis on the timing of things in eternity is pointless. Time is important to us here in this existence, but perhaps it is merely a lower dimension of a greater existence or wholly contained inside the spiritual realm which is greater.

Some points to ponder for Tim and Tif.

2 Corinthians 5:1-9
1 Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 We live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.

Who is we in verse 1?
To be in the body is to be away from the Lord and to be away from the body is to be with the Lord.

Phil 1:21-26
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me.

Paul teaches repeatedly that departing his body means to be with Christ.

Greetings t8….NAaaa! I don't think so….God is the same today as yesterday and will be the same in the future….The imagination of man is colorfull and quite powerfull…to describe an outer body experience is a function of our imagination….and yes ! in the eyes of the one telling .. ..it was real…One grave was opened at the ressurection and promise of all graves to be opened is the fruit of Gods plan…which is all to be resurected

Your argument is not with my imagination, but scripture.
Also, I haven't died yet.

John 5:28
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

Matthew 27:52
and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints that had fallen asleep were raised;

This event is mentioned in more than one gospel.

All will die and all will be made alive again at the last Trump the dead in Christ will be raised first and then those that are alive will meet the Lord in the air.
1 Corinth. 15 all.
There are so many interpretation of what will happen. Some call it the Rapture, others say Christ has already come and is preparing the Saints that will reign with Him in the Millenium.
Personal I have had friends dying and I have felt their Spirit. True or false, I have will have to wait till I die and see what will happen to little old me. That might happen sooner then I think, since I am 70 years old. But you know what is so funny, and my Husband agrees with this. When we were 50 we thought we were never going to reach 70. Time will tell I always say.

Greetings t8……Perhaps you are taking those scriptures out of context…..I have no doubt that the graves will be opened and the dead will rise in Gods' appointed time….as of now there is no flesh in the presense of God ..with the acception of the first born of the dead….Jesus….The imagination of man has unlimited potential but his mind is still in emnity with God….Scripture speaks in the Present (story form ),Past (Historical form) and Future (Prophetic form) which context would you say the scripture you quoted was in…with the assumption that the entire passage was read….

This happened about 2000 years ago.

Matthew 27:51-54
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. 52 The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

Hi t8

I agree. The scriptures you mention are clear proof that man is more than just flesh.

I believe that is why many “Non-preexistent believers” or “Unitarians” cannot see the truth that Jesus was more than just flesh, but in fact like the Father is Spirit and was Spirit before his coming in the flesh!

Blessings

Thx WJ.

Yes man is more than flesh and so the son of man was more than just flesh and he is greater.
It is important to believe that he came in the flesh, not that he is the flesh, for to put our trust in the flesh is not recommended.
