The name “Jesus” means “Jehovah saves.” It is NOT the Father's name. The name belongs to Christ ALONE! I challenge you to disprove this.

I knew you were going to bring up Joshua. Do you think I was not ready for that ? Note what Hebrews says about Joshua,

Joshua could not deliver salvation to the people. Jesus did. Show me from the new Testament where the Father is called by the name “Jesus” (Jehovah saves).

The point BD makes is valid.

You say Jesus is YHWH because of the meaning of his name but you will not accept that Joshua is YWHW by the same reasoning though the name is identical.

You have reached another dead end.

The point bd makes is not at all valid. Joshua did not bring the people into God's rest. Jesus did. The angel said that His name was to be called “Jesus” because He “SHALL save” His people from their sins. Joshua never did this. Furthermore, the angel committed idolatry by anti-trinitarian standards. For the angel said that we are “HIS” (Christ's) people. Yet God says “You are MY people.”

Therefore, Jesus is God just as His name indicates.

Wrong Nick. My point was always about the actions which the name indicates. Read this thread over again. Did you notice that bd now says that the prophets died for the sins of peple? Some of you anti-trinitarians will say anything to avoid giving Jesus His due allegiance.
