I remember a non believer asking me this question and I drew a blank. Well I received my answer just last night. The Father choose that time in History to give us His only begotten Son because at that time in History people were crucifiednot like today given an injection, Gas, or a seat in the electric chair. How much MORE do we remember His CRUCIFIXION.

How about to fulfill his own prophecy in Daniel involving the 70 weeks of years?
Daniel 9: 24-27 24 Seventy weeks [a] are decreed about your people and your holy city—to bring the rebellion to an end, to put a stop to sin,to wipe away injustice, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place. 25 Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince will be seven weeks and 62 weeks. It will be rebuilt with a plaza and a moat, but in difficult times. 26 After those 62 weeks the Messiah will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the coming prince will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come with a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations are decreed. 27 He will make a firm covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and offering. And the abomination of desolation will be on a wing of the temple until the decreed destruction is poured out on the desolator.”
Notice the Messiah (Jesus) would be cut off (killed) when this was to be fulfilled?
July 27, 2007 at 8:26 am#61752davidParticipantA few days ago, I had typed out the same thought. Then I questioned if it really answered his question and never submitted it.
Why did he choose to have the prophecy point to that time? It had to be that time because of this prophecy. But why did he actually choose that time?
I think mankind has always been cruel and could always find horible ways to kill someone.July 27, 2007 at 6:10 pm#61828kenrchParticipantQuote (david @ July 27 2007,20:26) A few days ago, I had typed out the same thought. Funny I haven't heard of anyone being tortured, nailed to a cross and left to die. I know in some countries during “the season” some supposedly are nailed to a cross for awhile, hardly as Christ was.Today we are too civilized to crucify someone. We don't whip them put a crown of thorns on them and nail them to a cross we just give them an injection to put them asleep.
If one came and said he came to take away the sins of the world and was given an injection to end his life, would you believe him?
