Hello. I found this site and I do hope you can help me. You see I am a oneness believeing Christian(One God) But I have some friends who greatly believe the trinity. We have entered a debate about If trinity is ture or not. I have explained many thing to the best of my knowledge and reference to history and scripture. But there were a few questions I am not sure how to answer and I'm hoping you guys can help.
One question Im kinda stuck on is If Jesus is God manifestd through him why did jesus Pray to God. Was it God praying to himself? Is Jesus his own Father?
Please help. Thx it is greatly appriciated.
January 4, 2006 at 3:17 pm#19578MrBobParticipantJesus tells us who to pray too:
Matthew 6:9 (NASB)
This, then, is how you should pray: ” 'Our Father in heaven hallowed be your nameHere Jesus differentiates between himself and the Father:
Mark 10:17-18 (NASB)
As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up to Him and knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. It makes no sense for Jesus to pray to himself. Else in the gospels, we see Jesus praying to the father, never himself.

Hello Zero,Jesus is the firstborn. Jesus received the Holy Spirit when baptized. Because Jesus had no sin He received the fullness of the Spirit, you and I receive a pledge or “down payment”.
The fulness of God was manifested in Jesus just as those who are resurrected spirit will receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit.Certainly Jehovah (Yahweh, Lord) is Jesus' and our Father because the Holy Spirit dewlls in us.
Rom 8:16 The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God:
Jesus had the “son of man” spirit” or His own Spirit and the Holy Spirit. Jesus full of the Spirit prayed to His Father and became the firstborn of many brethren.
This is the purpose of our creation. To become children of Yahweh (Jehovah) my Father.
How wanderful and Holy is our BIG brother. This is the reason why Jesus died so we could go before the creator and call Him Father. When you call Jehovah (Yahweh) Father it gives glory to our Brother. WE can go boldly before the thrown. God is our Daddy. I'm not showing disrespect, God is my Father and Jesus is my Brother. Our Father wants us to know Him, better than our earthly father.Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Col 1:19 For it was the good pleasure of the Father that in him should all the fulness dwell;Hope this helps.

January 5, 2006 at 3:05 am#19581BastianParticipantHi Zero,
I am afraid that even amongst us non trinitarians you will find we do not agree who Jesus was and is.
However we do all agree that the trinity is a false doctrine. That there is one God the creator Father of our Lord Jesus the Christ.
When Jesus walked this earth he was a human being not a god. As kenrch said he had the holy spirit without limit. We do not. Jesus had a God. His God was also his biological father, for lack of a better word. Which made him God's son not God himself. Jesus said many times that he was God's son. That is why the Jews wanted to stone him. If he had said he was God they would have either laughed at him, or been frightened of him.
All of mankind is created in the image of Adam. Only Jesus was created in the image of God. He is the second Adam. We who believe that he is the Messiah the son of the living God are made in his image, the image of Christ. That is why he is called the first born of many believers, men and women, the bible says brethern.
be well. Bastain
