What about Jesus? Didn't he take away the sins of the world?

    Hi BD:

For those that come to God with a repentant heart through him, yes he did.  Praise God for His unspeakable gift to humanity.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

Wasn't repentance always a way to approach God and reconcile?

    Hi BD:

Yes, do you believe that Jesus was sent by God.  He said that he was, and he said the following:

    Quote
Mar 1:14 ¶ Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
Mar 1:15   And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

    Quote
Jhn 3:5   Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

    What does repentance entail?

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

Yes of course Jesus was sent by God and he taught that we should repent by turning our hearts toward God and turn away from evil instead showing compassion and mercy to all.

He didn't say believe in me and you will be forgiven all your sins he said listen to me and you will be forgiven all your sins people tend to want to worship the messenger and not the message. Jesus delivered tha DOCTRINE of God.

    Hi BD:

He said repent and believe the gospel(good news).

And  John put it this way:

    Quote
1Jo 5:5   Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1Jo 5:6 ¶ This is he that came by water and blood, [even] Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
1Jo 5:8   And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
1Jo 5:9   If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
1Jo 5:10   He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
1Jo 5:11   And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1Jo 5:12   He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

The term son of God was common at the time. David was called the son of God and so was solomon and they are all the sons of God. The fact is God created them to reproduce his image and likeness so we are all the children of the most  high when we take on his attributes.

    Hi BD:

Although David and Solomon were sons of God, they are not the “Only Begotten Son of God”.

    This is the gospel:

    Quote
Jhn 3:16   For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jhn 3:17   For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Jhn 3:18   He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

The only way for man to become like God is for man to be born again, and for God to become the Father of his spirit.

    Quote
Gal 5:22   But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23   Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24   And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with t
    he affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25   If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

When the Bible speaks of Jesus as The Only son it doesn't mean that there were never any others it is speaking in current terms just like when Isaac is called the only son of Abraham, of course he was not but he was the only son currently with Abraham.

Whoever God gives complete authority to is his only begotten son

    Hi BD:

Was Jesus born of a virgin?

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

    Hi BD,
So if Jesus is not the monogenes Son of God whom God loves[He told us at the Jordan] we are unfairly rejecting His other sons?

Is Monogenes used with any other individual?

I think a better question is what did Monogenes mean to those who chose to use it.

I have heard it simply means “one of a kind” or “unique”.

I doubt that had anything to do with his virgin birth.

I believe it had everything to do with the fact he never sinned despite being tempted by sin even as we are.

    Hi BD,
Isaac was also called monogenes in Heb11, the monogenes son of Abraham.
Jesus Christ is the monogenes Son of God and God told us he loved His Son and listen to him but men go their own way.

    Hi CON,
Jesus did not come to save the righteous but sinners.
We all need to read between the lines and look in that same mirror and repent.
The roots of many sins reside in all who were once satans' children, the prince of power of the air[Eph2]
