Quote (Nick Hassan @ Feb. 10 2007,02:53) Hi 94,
Do you go to the synagogue on the sabbath or travel more than the set distance?
Hi Nick:No I don't, but I do keep the Sabbath. The commandment is six days shall thou labor and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.
Jesus stated that the Sabbath was made for man. God instituted this day as a day of rest for his people which is a good thing as are all things that God intends for us. I am not in bondage with this, but I don't do any work that is not a necessity on that day.
I gather from your question, that you might not keep this commandment. Well, how about the rest of them, are they still valid?
To whom was Jesus speaking in Matthew 5:19?

How do you keep the sabbath and on which day?February 10, 2007 at 4:59 am#39715942767ParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ Feb. 10 2007,04:36) Hi 94,
How do you keep the sabbath and on which day?
Hi Nick:In the society that I live the work day starts on Monday, and so I rest on the seventh day which is Sunday. Somehow, I knew that you were going to ask this.
God began his work week on Sunday, and so, the sabbath day to the Nation of Israel was Saturday. They were mainly and acricultural community, and so they could begin their work week on Sunday. I can't since I don't own my own business. I also go to church on Sunday.
A number of years back, I heard through the sermons of the Seventh day Adventists that Saturday was the Sabbath day and that if you were resting on Sunday you were not keeping the commandment, and so, I went to a Seventh Day Adventist church because if this is what God required, then I wanted to obey his commandment. He showed me that it does not matter which day. The commandment is six days shall thou labor and rest on the seventh day which I do.

So how do you keep the sabbath?February 10, 2007 at 5:24 am#39724942767ParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ Feb. 10 2007,05:03) Hi 94,
So how do you keep the sabbath?
Hi Nick:I already told you that I do not do any work that is not of a necessity, and I go to church to worship with fellow believers.
And so, I am answering your questions, but you have not answered mine. To whom was Jesus speaking in Matthew 5:19 when he said: “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven”.?

Saturday is the sabbath of course.
Does scripture say we should go to church on the sabbath?
I work in an essential role and help pull folk out of ditches every day I am asked to.Col 2
“16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”
Matt 5
” 1And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:2And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
I do not tell people to break commandments.

Hi Nick:In your profession, and in others such as policemen, firemen and others you may not be able to observe the Sabbath. I work as a security guard, and sometimes, I have to work on Sunday also. I said that I did not do any work that was not essential on the Sabbath day. If I have to feed the cows or milk them, I am not on a farm now but I was at one time, then that is essential.
Also, I do the work of evangelist 7 days a week. From this work I will not cease until either I go by the grave or the Lord comes for us.
Nevertheless, the body gets tired and rest is necessary otherwise we won't be able to accomplish much of any thing.
The point is that the Law of God is eternal. It was written in tables of stone with the finger of God. It can't be changed.
Jesus said he did not come to change it but to fulfill it.
God Bless

I missed part of your previous post in which you state that you don't tell men to break the commandments, and that is a good thing because the scripture states that he who does them and teach them will be great in the kingdom of God, and I want God's very best for you and your family.

Also the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants, everyone who keeps from profaning the sabbath, and holds fast My covenant; even those I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples'.” (Isaiah 56:4-7)
December 23, 2007 at 1:50 am#75917AnonymousGuest“But pray that your flight may not be in winter, or on a Sabbath; for then there will be great tribulation, such has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall. And unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days shall be cut short. Then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ' or 'There He is,' do not believe him. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, the elect. Behold, I have told you in advance.” (Matthew 24:20-25)
If the Sabbath commandment has been abolished, why is the Son telling us to pray our flight will not be on a Sabbath?
Revelation 14
12 Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.
Revelation 12
17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.
Who are these saints and children that keep the commandments of God and their faith in His Son?
Is is those seeking an everlasting name better than that of sons and daughters by choosing to hold fast God's covenant?
It's called choosing what is pleasing to the Lord. - AuthorPosts
