    Luke 1:36

He was conceived in his mothers womb of flesh and spirit.

Yes, he was created by God, as is everything in existence.

    Mike,

It is self evident and yet there are those that disagree.

Kerwin………….John was a Prophesied Person to come much like Jesus was also, but they both did not exist until they were conceived and born in the flesh. GOD did this not only with John and Jesus, but also with Jeremiah and King Cyrus. God himself forms their Spirits (IN) them and sent them to do his will in the earth even as he has many in history and now in the present also. IMO

peace and love to you and yours…………………………………………gene

    Hi KW,
His infilling with the Spirit was in the womb but well after conception

    Nick,

John the Baptist leaped in his mother's womb in the 6th month of his life while carried along by the Holy Spirit.  I was not speaking of the Holy Spirit but instead I was speaking of the spirit God breathes into flesh to create a living soul.

    Ecclesiastes 12:7
    King James Version (KJV)

7Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

    Hi KW,
So where is that conception of flesh and spirit written about?

    Nick,

Both state a living human being is composed of flesh side from the earth and spirit side from God.

A living human being starts life as a single living cell within their mother's inward parts.

The spirit side is called the breath of life.

Here is another account of the spirit returning to give the body life.

    Luke 8
    King James Version (KJV)

52And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.
53And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
54And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
55And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

    Hi KW,
Yes the spirit of a man gives him life.
But man is a soul clad in a dust body.

    Nick,

The soul is called spirit because it is composed of spirit.
The spirit is also composed of spirit and called spirit.
Context is the only way to tell the which is which.

Here is an example of what I write of:  In Luke 8:55 the dead girl's spirit returns and so does life.  In 1 Kings 17:21 the prophet ask that the boy's soul return and when it does so does life.  You can see that soul and spirit have the same meanings even though they are different words.

    1 Kings 17:21
    King James Version (KJV)

21And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again.

There is also a spirit which is not the soul.  In the book of Galatians God's spirit is described with these words.

    Galatians 5
    King James Version (KJV)

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

This spirit is not the soul but rather a person's character or nature.

    Hi KW,
    You say
“The soul is called spirit because it is composed of spirit.”

    How odd.
    Any evidence??

    Nick,

I already gave you evidence by comparing the parallel use of soul and spirit in two different passages.

What do you believe it is composed of; grosser matter?

    Hi KW,
Do all men return to God when they die??
    Only their spirit does.

God takes no part with the unrighteous.
