    Hi.
    Good topic.

Walking in the Spirit would be walking in the light.

Spiritually, what would walking in the light mean to you?

I mean – as believers, we have all walked in the dark (been confused, tormented, and lost) – right?

So, walking in the Spirit is being Spirit led, and being Spirit led is being free.  The truth is what sets us free.  There is no darkness in light.

Truth, though… is often a learning experience.  We are like babes, and we are learning to walk, and falling over along the way, often finding it difficult to get up

    People can surpress our Spirit.

Stay away from those who do.

It doesn't nessesarily mean someone who gives you a piece of their mind, which often could be true, and could help you – but check their motive – know the Spirit (Ah – another learning experience!)

But walking in the Spirit means letting go of the flesh, and having no desires (Apart from love).

    Seeking Gods will.

    Being humble.

    Having a heart.

    Hi Shania,

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his(God's) righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things
of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Matthew 6:33-34)

    Hi Shania,

Here's what I do: Find out what others concerns are(and not by asking them),
be intuitive: listen, watch, and observe carefully what they say and how they act.

Then when you find out what concerns them, work behind the scenes to meet their concerns for them.
I guarantee this will work, as I have been a Christian for over 40 years. If you have any questions, please ask.

The reason you cannot ask what their concerns are is because
they will likely suggest that you fulfill their lusts (the gimmies).

    1. I want this.                                                          You will quickly learn that this is not
    2. I also want that.                                                  the correct way to approach
    3. What are you willing to do for me?                      what I'm talking about.

    God bless

    Hi Shimmer,

    She wants a “how to”.
    Here are some examples:

    1. They may like to gab, then you listen.
    2. They may need advice, then give um some.
    3. The may need a ride to the store, then take um.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask; OK?

    Shania,
It differs from doing what the flesh desires, but it also differs from forcing yourself to obey the commandments so as  to attain a “prize”.  It is approaching life's situations with love as our motive. Love will always do what is needed for the greater good of all concerned.  Quite often it will be inconvenient and may even require our having to give up our “right” to be offended, all the way to at times, the possession of something that's rightfully ours. However when you can do that, you are walking after the Spirit (following the example Jesus gave us) to let love be our motive in all things, basically putting ourselves and our desires to death, and instead having a life defined by love.

    My opinion Wm

    Hi Shania,
Sounds like you are fed up and need a new direction. It is unlikely that you will find that on the internet. I think that having fellowship with people in person, who are grounded in their faith in Jesus is important. The internet can be a dangerous place to be getting fellowship because people can easily be so deceptive, judgmental, and critical because they are sort of anonymous. People on the internet can be careless and get away with it. They can be all friendly and then back bite yet they call themselves Christian. So, my advice is to get with real people…older women that you can observe their lives and their families. Surround yourself with people that you want to emulate. No one is perfect but there are many that are more mature in their walk…find them and walk with them.

The Bible says that the older women are to mentor the younger women in Titus 2. Look for women that have been married for a long time and have a happy family who aren't gossips. Also, find women that have a gentle and quiet spirit who are generous to others, choose their words wisely, and whose husband and children respect them. Also, find women that you can confide in who aren't going to be talking about your issues with other women and tearing you down behind your back. As a woman, it is best to seek out other women rather than men for your support and guidance.

Titus 2:1But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. 2Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.

3Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, 4so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

I have just spent the weekend with my 'older' sisters in the Lord at a women's retreat and they have so encouraged me and shared their stories with me. They love me unconditionally. They don't judge me. They have my back, so to speak and are for me, not against me…true Christian women. Having actual people that you can hug and lean on is much better than looking for fellowship on the internet forums, from my experience. That is why I don't come here for fellowship…I get that with people that I can observe in person. I'm sure that some people on the internet are trustworthy but it is harder to tell.

I hope you find what you are looking for,
    Kathi

    Hi Shania,
Once you are reborn of water and the Spirit then all you have to do is turn up spiritually.Mt 20
The easy yoke means that Jesus Christ in you directs your steps daily and takes care of the big stuff.
The teacher in you shows you from the Word what it is you need to know. Religion wants you to try hard.

    Shania.

The Internet (can be) a wonderful place, and you can meet many believers, you might end up with just a few of them, but trust me, when you learn about the Spirit, and learn how close you can be to a person, you also learn a lot about God – Because God is Spirit (Not flesh).

“Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

    Hi Shania,
Here are some scriptures that you can meditate on to help you answer your questions if you would like:

Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

Prov 1:5 A wise man will hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,

Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Matt 6:31“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32“For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

34“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

1 Cor 10:31Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Col 3:23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,

Matt 7:12In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Prov 16:3 Commit your works to the LORD And your plans will be established.

Prov 3:5Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.

6In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.

    7Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.

8It will be healing to your body
    And refreshment to your bones.

Shania to be led by the Spirit, one needs to be able to recognize the Spirit and discern between the Holy Spirit and evil spirits. The more that you know God's ways from reading your Bible and the more you are aware of the schemes of satan from reading the Bible, the more sensitive to hearing God's guidance in your spirit. Trust the Lord to show you because it truly is His will to show you His plans for you to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

    God bless your journey,
    Kathi

    Shania,
A very good question, one I've asked myself many times. What I've experienced has lead me to conclude that unless God has given you something special to do, grow where your planted, live a life of integrity full of faith in the love of God, knowing that the Father works all things for the greater good. I believe that God has left most of life's decisions to us and as long as our motive is love, we are pleasing to God, and never too far from the truth.

    My opinion – Wm

    Hi Shania.

With what you asked…  Pray.  And connect with God in silence if need be for a while, and then ask God (Father) to lead you the right way.  Ask God to have His will.  (Cause we all know – that when we wan't our will, it is often disaster, right) So trust God.   Have faith that He will look after you.  Find peace of mind doing this.  Because God is like a loving Father, one who will listen and guide you the right way because He does care for you…

Also, go through your mind of those who are closest to you.  I go down the list of my loved ones one by one.  And I concentrate on what I wish for each one – be it peace, God, protection, love, etc, or I just thank God for them.  Also thank God for having a roof over your head, a bed to sleep in, when others have not (Assuming of course that you have).

    Any questions, Shania, Just ask.

Ed, there's more to that verse.

1 ¶ FROM whence come conflicts and quarrels among you?
Is it not from the lusts that war in your members?
You covet and do not obtain; you kill and envy, but you cannot possess; you strive and fight, yet you have nothing, because you do not ask.
You ask and you do not receive because you do not ask sincerely, you ask that you may satisfy your lusts.
O you adulterers! Do you not know that the love for worldly things is enmity with God?

If a woman was in an abusive relationship and had children and her life was at risk, and she asked God's help, is that wrong?

Asking for fame, riches, property, Etc, is the lusts of life, that is not what I was talking about.

God is our Heavenly Father – and He cares for us and our wellbeing, and praying for Gods will – not our own – is trusting God.
