    Hi Malcolm,
    So when you quote
    EPHESIANS 3:14-15
” 14For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,”

Do you agree that One to whom we bow,
    The Father,
    is also the One
of Whom all the family is named
or do you say it applies to Jesus Christ, the Son?

God has given Himself a name and the name of the Son derives from that name.

We bow to one Father God.
For there is but One God.
He is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
And – yes – the whole family is named after the Father as any family infact is.
So the name we bear is Jesus Christ – for that is the name we are given – Christians
    or followers of Christ.

    Hi Oxy,
Of course the trinity theory was originally a binity theory with only the late addition of the third PERSON in God. Commonsense tells us that as we have a spirit and are made in the likeness of God the Spirit of God is not another person but the Spirit of God.

    1Cor 2
” 10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.”

Otherwise the third person is the father of Jesus.

And of course how do you understand Gen 1.2?

Hi Nick, in response to your request for an interpretation of Gen 1:2, try this…

Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form and empty. And darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters.
Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light. And there was light.
Gen 1:4 And God saw the light that it was good. And God divided between the light and the darkness.

Gen 1:2 talks of the Spirit of God, but the other verses talk of God. The Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters, but God said Let there be light.

    Obviouslt two identities.

    Hi Oxy,
And do these two communicate? or have separate roles and responsibilities? and does the Spirit have a form and location?

Is not the Spirit even a part of God to you but another being with life in itself but no name?

    To say

    “obviously”

is to draw inference from scripture and apply logic to it
but these have very limited roles in understanding scripture.

Scripture expounds scripture, not human logic.

    Inference alone is vain speculation.

    Hi,
The Spirit of God unites the Father and the Son.
We can partake of that blessed unity by rebirth into the Son of God.

Question for the Arian followers, (those who do not have a Trinitarian view).

How do you reconcile the folowing scriptures from an Arian view?

    Rom 8:
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

    1 Cor 3:16
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

    2 Cor 6:16
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

    1 Cor 12:13
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

    Eph 2:18
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

    Eph 4:4
    There is one body, and ONE Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

    2 Cor 3:17
Now the Lord(Kurios) is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord(Kurios) is, there is liberty.

    2 Cor 13:5
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus (Yeshua)Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

When someone accepts Jesus into their heart does the Spirit of Christ or God or the Comforter come to live in them?

And are the three One Spirit?

    Blessings! :)

    Hi W,
Not that I espouse arianism in any way but serve the ONE TRUE GOD, in His Son, but I would say the verses are already in complete Harmony. There is One Spirit and that is the Spirit of God, not three spirits of three persons in God. The Holy Spirit does not have a spirit called the comforter. That is folly.

    Hi W,
Does the Father God have a spirit that is not the Holy Spirit?

The Son BECAME life giving spirit.

    1Cor 15
” 45So also it is written, “The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL ” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.”

So of course whatever state he was before he BECAME a life giving spirit is not that relevant in this context.
He could not become for us the source of life till he was given that life himself.
He was GIVEN the Spirit of God and he GIVES the Spirit of God to his brothers.

JESUS IS JEHOVAH AND EQUAL WITH GOD

    Compare
MATTHEW 13:13-15 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. (14) And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: (15) For this people's heart is waxed gross, and {their} ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with {their} eyes, and hear with {their} ears, and should understand with {their} heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
    With
ISAIAH 6:9-10 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. (10) Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

JOHN 5:17-18 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. (18) Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

JOHN 10:30-33 I and {my} Father are one. (31) Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. (32) Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? (33) The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

JOHN 12:41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
    With
ISAIAH 6:1-5 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. (2) Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. (3) And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, {is} the Lord of hosts: the whole earth {is} full of his glory. (4) And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. (5) Then said I, Woe {is} me! for I am undone; because I {am} a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.<<<

In Rev 21:6 “arche” is applied to the Father, so it can't possibly mean “created being,” as Jehovah's Witnesses and other heretics maintain.

It is quite ridiculous really to say that the Holy Spirit is just the spiritual presence of the Father or the Son or of both. At the baptism of Jesus the Three were manifested there. The Father spoke from heaven, Jesus was in the water being baptized, and the Holy Spirit came down upon Jesus like a dove. The Father and Jesus needed no spiritual presence of any third party.

Remember too the baptismal formula Jesus gave at Matthew 28:19 – “baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Blind Freddy can surely see that there are Three Persons in the Heavenly Trio.

The HOLY SPIRIT (a Person) is endowed with very “personal” characteristics like:
Intelligence and knowledge, feelings and teaching ability.

(John 14:26) “for He will teach you all things”.
1 Cor. 2:13,14 He teaches us spiritual things, helping us to discern spiritual things
(1 Cor. 12:11),He makes decisions –deciding who gets what spiritual gift
He has emotions and can be grieved (Eph. 4:30)
Romans 8:26 “The Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

(John 16:8) He convicts of sin, of righteousness and judgment
    Rev. 22:17
He invites people to “come” (Matt. 12:31, Mark 3:29) He can be sinned and blasphemed against, which can lead to the unpardonable sin
“The Spirit Himself bears witness…. that we are children of God (Romans 8:16
    He speaks (Acts 8:29)
    teaches (Luke 12:12)
    reveals (Luke 2:26)
    testifies (Acts 20:23)
    searches (1 Cor. 2:10,11)
He sets people apart for service and sends them on their way (Acts 13:2,4)
He commands and guides (Acts 8:29)
He declares things to come (John 16:13)
In John chapters 14-16 Christ referred to the Holy Spirit 24 times with personal PRONOUNS. HE,  HIM. He addresses the Holy Spirit as a person, and treats Him as a person. In John 14:16 He calls Him the Comforter (Parakletos), which is a title which could only be held by a person.

                                                          The Holy Spirit is God

Acts 5:3   But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land?
5:4   Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not li
ed unto men, but unto God.

Mathew  12:31   Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy [against] the [Holy] Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.  (Blasphemy can only be committed against God)

1 Corinthians 3:17   Now the Lord (God) is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty.

9:14   How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit (only God hath immortality) offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Mat 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

    Hi,
So if the Holy Spirit of God is in fact the spirit of God and not another person then we are left with God and His son. Not a eternal binity but a blessed unity in purpose and will and in that amazing Spirit.

    The son PROCEEDED from God.
    The Spirit PROCEEDS from God.

We are invited to join too the family of God and be enlivened by the Spirit of Christ.

JESUS IS JEHOVAH AND EQUAL WITH GOD

    Hi CultB.

This statement without you realising it CB, is saying that Jehovah isn't God. I disagree with this statement of course.

  • To be equal to something is an admission that you are not that thing, but like it.
  • If Jesus is Jehovah, and Jehovah is equal to God, then according to your statement, Jehovah isn't God.

You only need to think it through to see that saying something is equal to another actually means that it is not the thing that it is equal to.

    E.g., 3 + 2 = 5
But neither 3 and 2 are actually 5. It is only their values that are the same, their identities are completely different.

If the population of New Zealand is equal to that of Norway, then it is by simple admission of the word equal that the population of New Zealand isn't actually the population of Norway, but is like it. In this case the similarity is the number.

BTW: Unrelated to the point I raise above, the population in Norway may not be the same as New Zealand. I think it is similar however.

Hi t8,

I think you misunderstand the language that trinitarians use.

“Jesus is Jehovah” = Jesus it the one and only God, Jehovah.
“Jesus/Jehovah is equal to God” = Jehovah, in the person of the Son, is equal to Jehovah in the person of the Father.

Hi t8,
Over 1800 years they have developed their own special language.
It is called forked tongue.
