    Hi 94
    Col 2:13

“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;”

Yes those being addressed who were lost are now forgiven having been circumcised with water baptism and joined with Christ sharing his Spirit of eternal life.

    Nick.

Not so easy.Water washes only the outside of the cup.
Millions have been baptised with water today and the past.
All must be given white robes, after gone through the great tribulation. Do not depend on water.

But how can a wise all knowing babe understand?

    Hi Nick:

The scriptures state that “all have sinned” and therefore, all of us have been spiritually dead, prior to being reconciled to God through our Lord, and water baptism is symbolic of our union with him in his death, burial and resurrection, and is important and we should be baptized in water, but it is the blood that cleanses us from sin, and our hearts are circumcized by the Holy Spirit.

Water baptism does not mean a thing if the the person being baptized has not believed the gospel and has not repented or if he has believed and has not repented. A person being baptized under these circumstances has gone into the water a dry sinner and come a wet one. There has been not change in his heart. The change has to take place in the heart of a person prior to being baptized in water.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

    Hi Nick:

Water baptism is a work showing that we have believed and have repented. We are saved because we have believed with a repentant heart. Faith without works is dead, and so, yes we should be baptized as well as obey the other commandments of our Lord.

    Hi Wakeup:

If a person did not have the opportunity to be baptized prior to his death, the Lord will accept him, such as someone who is saved on his deathbed, but the Lord says the following:

    Quote
    Luk 6:45
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

    Luk 6:46

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

For us to be baptized in water is a commandment of our Lord. When Cornelius and his people received the Holy Spirit prior to being baptized, the Apostle Peter commanded them to be baptized in water.

    Quote
    Act 10:47
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

    Act 10:48
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

    Marty.

    Yes; to complete the tradition.
But if He were in the desert dying,he will be accepted.

    BAPTISM:??

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them,
***O generation of vipers***, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Matthew 20:22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of,
***and to be baptized with the baptism that I am
    baptized with***?
They say unto him, We are able.

    Yes; to complete the tradition.

But we obey because we love God and want to obey the commandments that came to us from Him through the Lord Jesus.  If Jesus was baptized in water, then I will follow his example, how about you?

I am not interested in obeying anything solely for the sake of tradition, otherwise I would go along with the flow and believe every doctrine that the church is teaching such as the “trinity doctrine”.

    This is what John said:

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them,
    ***O generation of vipers***,
who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

The wicked came to be baptised with water.
    Are they saved?
Is it not the same today?
The wicked go to church today.
The wicked preach in church today, and baptise with water.
    Are they all born again?
If not, then what strenght/power is there in water.

And, so, they were fleeing from the wrath to come, and came to John to be baptized hopefully with a repentant heart, and if they did not, they are still under the wrath of God.

And yes, all of us who were wicked and lost in our sins, have gone to church seeking the grace and mercy of God.

There are those in the church who are certainly hypocrites, but do you not think that the Lord who is the judge of the whole world sees all and knows all.

He warns us against false prophets who come in sheep's clothing, but that will not stop me from going to the church to fellowship with those who are true believers.

Listen to what the scriptures state here relative to going to church:

    Quote
    Hebrews 10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;

22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

    Marty.

I agree with that, but the question here is:
    What power/strength, has water baptism?
Since many will be rejected even baptised with water.
Any one can come and have themselves baptised with water.
But there is no security in water. This is what I am trying to explain.

You can see that not all will be saved;and yet they teach that you are saved after baptism.
    Water does not save.
It is the spirit that saves.

To revael knowledge is not judging. To reveal errors,is not judging, but is to correct.
If you feel you are judged, then there is something not right with you.
The word *Judge* is always used; if one does not like what is revealed.
