My personal view is that the spirit was in bodily form (of a man) but descended gracefully in similar manner to a dove. The language supports this view. I find it weird that the Spirit of God would take on the form of an animal.

i CAN NOT SHARE THAT view ,for the reason that the holy spirit did not appear for any other reason than to make John sure that what scriptures had said was fulfilled ,and that what the “ONE” that told him to baptized to look out for that man ,and so by John witnessing he pointed out the one that had to come according to the written word of God ;
and he testified that Jesus Christ existed before he was existing ;even Christ told many times that he came down from heaven but the fact that God made him come in the cover of the flesh ,this become a stumbling block for them ,same stumbling block than the Jews in Jesus time ,
this is a thing that each one of us as to overcome by either believe it or not with the consequence attached to it ,

i find out that it is easier to love someone you know than someone you do not know ,i love to read Solomon book of called “song of songs”
