Anyone who starts up a Church and slaps a name on it has started a denomination. What happens next is a refined creed of some kind.
We should be mindful that there is one Church, the Body of Christ and that Christ said he would build his Church. We we confess and act in a way that we belong to the body, then we can fellowship with anyone else who is in the body. Then denominations will not be able to hold the Church anymore. We won’t have to destroy them, they will just crumble.
Old wineskins cannot hold new wine.
- For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. – Matthew 24:5
- Also from among your own selves, men shall arise, speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after themselves. – Acts 20:30
