There are many christian denomenations, Catholic, Prodestant, Evangelical, Anglican, Mennonite, Morman, J.W, Methodiist, etc. We could go on and on. There are literly hundreds if not thousands of various Christian denomenations. They exist because all have different views on what scripture says, all that belong to a particular one believe they have the truth, and many in any one particular denomenation can't all agree on the correct doctrine. Many churches split because of differences in opinion on what is truth. There are splits going on right now in various denomenations, we have an increase in the number of denomenations continueously.
How is one to know the truth, is there any that have the truth, or do all have some truth, or some all truth, or none any truth.
Also there are many, possibly hundreds of various translations of the Holy Scriptures. Again, which ones contain the pure “Word of God”? How are we to know what to believe?
Is our God a God of confusion? After all, how is one to know for sure what to believe? How very important is it to know exactly what is required for salvation, if we believe something taught by a certain group or denomenation that is wrong, and our salvation is in jeoprdy, is that fair? Who has the answer?
I would be interested to know your opinions. Please feel free to expess yours.
Thank you.

Do you think signing up with any old human denomination
brings us into an eternal relationship with the Lord Jesus and his Father God?March 14, 2008 at 11:56 pm#83950chosenoneParticipantThe reason for this post was my interest in peoples opinions as to what they think is needed for salvation, there are so many different opinions, as in various denominations and/or just personal ones, what is yours?
Blessings.
March 15, 2008 at 2:01 am#83966seekingtruthParticipantI believe that adhering and trusting in any denomination is a hindrance to obtaining salvation.
It's not which church has the truth but what truths does the individual have. Salvation is only obtained through trust in what God has done through his Son. I believe that most denominations have some who have gained enough truth to obtain salvation. I believe I have brothers and sisters in most of the denominations.
I've always believed that sometimes when God shows someone a new truth, they unfortunately then take that truth and make it “all truth”, thus missing many of the most important truths. They should have taken that truth and built on other truths but instead they build another denomination or sect causing further divisions.
The church I attend does not have all truth… I do not have all truth… I do not believe any has all truths, and none will ever gain a full knowledge of God, fortunately salvation is gained with but a few truths.

Very Interesting…
You know its a good thing that the Bible does not say “Until you understand all the mysteries of GOD, you can not be saved”.
Cause no one would be even close to thinking about getting saved.
Some will argue that you need to be baptized a certain way…have the Holy Ghost, go to church for a minimum of two years, be married for 4 years. And pay tithes for 10 years before you can be saved. Or…whatever…so I've exaggerated some…but its about the same difference, with some people.
Luke 5:32
I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.I believe …which the bible clearly points out like a big honkin' yellow bus! That the place to start is probably believing on Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, and Repenting of your sins…Is where it all starts.
Mark 1:4
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.Of course after you do this …or in the process of doing this…depending on how much you yield to the spirit, its possible that you are going to be baptized in the Holy Ghost at that same time.
At which point …when your done you'll most likely want to be baptized. (with water) Some do it in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Some do it in the name of the Son alone…Jesus Christ. My personal opinion for what its worth…is this:
Matthew 3:8
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.I think they are both right…For this reason. It says in Matthew to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
Now we also know that “All Power” in heaven was given to the Son.
But if we were going to be arguing about it, Baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ would probably win…Simply because there is more scriptures in the bible that back it up. than that that back up the other way. But being as how we can't just overlook scriptures in the bible “At All” we still have to in my opinion follow by what Matthew 28:19 says:Matthew 28
19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:John 3:35
The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.Matthew 28:18
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. So…in light of that alone…if you were to baptize someone in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It would be right as well I believe.
People like to say “Well, do you need to be baptized to be saved?”
Well there are instances in the bible where people did not get baptized to be saved. Namely all those that lived in the old testament days…they did baptizing but in a different way.
And then there is that time when the sinner on the cross that was dying right beside never got baptized…however.
Unless you get shot right between the eyes, run over by a truck pulling out of the church parking lot, get unfortunate enough to be in an A-Bomb explosion…or some “Freak” accident…I'd say yeah do it…get yourself baptized. After all…Jesus Christ himself got baptized, and his mission was to “Lead by example”. If you rebel and say “Well I don't care what anyone says I'm not going to do it I don't think its right.” Well, what kind of spirit is that? One of Meekness or one of Pride? And, besides what if it is right? What are you going to do then? When all you had to do was get a little wet.
I mean really, like your going to melt or something? Worse case scenario you panic drowned and die and go to heaven…but thats just worst case scenario…which still really is not all that bad IMO.
“If you want to learn to swim, you have to get in the water.” (True Story)
—————————————————————
Now…weather or not GOD is three persons combined to make one or One manifest as three persons. Is something else that I think is sort of a “Man Made” hinderence. However if it were one way or the other ….REGARDLESS of whatever anyone thinks on this earth.
Romans 11
33O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!34For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
We do know this is at least one truth, The name that we are going to be saved by is the Lord Jesus Christ, I don't care what denomination you belong to If you don't believe on the Lord Jesus Christ your not going to be forgiven of any sins….you can dip yourself in all different colors of water and shout all sorts of names you feel like…if you don't have faith and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living GOD…your gonna be real sad one day:
Matthew 11:27
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him].John 6:44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.Acts 2:21
And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.Acts 4:7
And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?Acts 4:10
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] by him doth this man stand here before you whole.Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.John 3:15
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.John 12:46
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.Acts 10:43
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.Romans 9:33
As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.Romans 10:11
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.1 John 5:1
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.We could go on and on about this and that, and we could start arguing about what the bible says…Which I would strongly advise against.
GOD is not the author of confusion “At All”…Satan is the one that does all that shady business. Thats why we are in the mess we are in right now, with all these different religions. Satan is trying to deceive the whole world…hes been at it for a re
ally long time now too…hes beginning to get pretty good at it. Which is the very reason that we were so urgently warned about such.March 15, 2008 at 4:10 am#83985seek and you will findParticipantSamuel! Very good Post. I agree with most.

Man let me tell you something, today I was at a pet store and saw this Snake in there. I was looking at it and looking at its eyes. and it was wrapped around this log thing, sort of poorly.
It was almost like the thing was …if it could have spoken to me thinking…”I used to could walk you know”
I had to giggle…it was so funny.
But thats what you get when you mess with GOD…you have to crawl around on your belly for the rest of your life.
Genesis 3:14

Samuel That is funny. Guss what I hate snakes. I don't even look at them. When our Kids were small We went to Bush Garden in Florida and they had snakes. Our young 6 year old Son went to the front and the Guy put a rather large snake around His neck. Ralph did not like that and gave the snake to me. I still can remember how bad I felt about it. Huh, huh.Peace and Love Mrs.
March 15, 2008 at 6:22 am#83997SamuelParticipantIt was just a weird experience. I had to share it.
I've looked at snakes before and never had nothing like that cross my mind.
But today…it did…weird.
