HI again, t8,
Remember, you are not just citing Scripture. You are most immediately going on your understanding of Scripture, your interpretation. Question is, How accurate and reliable of a source are you on Scripture? I have my doubts there.

Since you never seem to refer to scripture as evidence
why do you dump on those who do?
July 8, 2016 at 8:21 am#815705kerwinParticipantHoghead1,
I have an associates, the credit hours for a second one and am currently working toward a Bachelors. I plan on finishing this fall. The discipline is Computer Science. I tend to think all human being are biased to one degree or another. Even Jesus was biased; though to godliness.
I have either been lucky in instructors or most attempt to fight there biases to one degree or another. I also don’t mind using biased sources but then I feel confident I can ignore the bias and pick up the legitimate information and data they provide.
I have not called anyone biased as that is a given.

You are most immediately going on your understanding of Scripture, your interpretation.
Bias effects “your understanding”/”your interpretation as dies the amount of knowledge also plays a part.
Denying the evidence because it leads to a psychological unpleasant answer is not an honest way to interpret anything. It is a tough temptation to battle as our a host of other psychological ailments(?).
Note: Used ailments but it is probably not the correct term. You probably know the correct one.

Yes, true.

You might find it helpful to take some courses in theology.
July 8, 2016 at 10:23 am#815710kerwinParticipanthoghead,
Perhaps it would be useful but it also requires time and a stronger ability to suppress my natural inclinations. I have more belief in the former than the later and it; most likely due to learned helplessness.
July 8, 2016 at 11:46 am#815711hoghead1ParticipantHi, Kerwin,
Sorry, I don’t follow you when you talk about suppressing your natural inclinations. What do you mean by that? Also, if yu are actively involved with a church, it may have some solid theological resources available.
July 8, 2016 at 1:46 pm#815713kerwinParticipanthoghead,
I am unchurched.
“natural inclinations” are called the “flesh” or “carnal” in some versions though the later has picked up more negative connotations that Scripture uses. Of course I am speaking of particular one that interfere with doing coursework.
July 8, 2016 at 3:02 pm#815716hoghead1ParticipantHi, Kerwin,
OK, I’m still puzzled what inclination you are speaking of, but I don’t want to pry. I am well aware that many read in “carnal lust” and passion when the Bible talks about the “flesh.’ However, actually “flesh”, in the Bible, means selfishness, insensitivity, not passionate feelings. Sin isn’t flesh, it’s insensitivity.

But theology has not helped you.
Rather it has driven you away from God and His truth.
Thy word is truth.
