ParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ July 12 2010,22:50) Hi Oxy,
So if the Spirit is shown in the form of a dove it must mean that Spirit is not God's?
How can the Spirit unite you to God if that Spirit is not of God?
You are confused Nick, I have never said that the Holy Spirit is not God's or of God. On the contary, I have always stated that the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father after Jesus rose, just as it says in the Scriptures.July 14, 2010 at 9:47 am#203754NickHassan
ParticipantHi Oxy,
Mt10.20 says the Spirit of the Father can speak through us.

ParticipantMat 10:20 For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
Yes indeed, the Spirit of the Father has spoken through me on many occasions. It's called prophesy.
In the same way the Son of the Father is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

ParticipantHi Oxy,
Well done.
Now compare the corresponding verse in Lk12.11
“for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say”You should see that the SPIRIT OF THE FATHER is THE HOLY SPIRIT
So the Spirit of the FATHER is in you as prophecy?
But the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy[rev19]There is ONE SPIRIT

No wonder my poor avatar is banging his head against a brick wall.As I have said so many times before, yes, the Holy Spirit is of the Father, but that doesn't make Him the Father.. in the same way the Son is of the Father, but that doesn't make Him the Father.

ParticipantHi Oxy,
But you insist on dividing God from His Spirit based only on a misunderstanding of scripture?
You need to go beyond reliance on personal experiences and learn.July 16, 2010 at 6:58 am#204213davidbfun
ParticipantQuote (t8 @ July 13 2010,03:59) God the Father is an invisible spirit. He has a son who is the visible image of him.
Beware of those who try to confuse and change this simple truth written in scripture. More often than not, they are blinded by their own pride.
Hi t8,Is YHVH God, the Father?

ParticipantQuote (Oxy @ July 12 2010,02:08) Quote (Nick Hassan @ July 11 2010,20:03) Hi OXY,
Psalm 139 shows GOD and HIS SPIRIT in parallel verses.
That's true Nick, the Father and the Spirit are one, as are the Father and the Son, and the Son and the Spirit, yet they are three. Look at this verse Psa 139:7 Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? He asks two questions.
1 Where shall I go from Your Spirit?
2 where shall I flee from Your presence? If they were one and the same, why would He mention both?
Hi Oxy,I like your insight. Two questions for two entities (essences).
Spirit he couldn't escape as “it” would follow him anywhere. “Presence” is a physical state. There is another combination of ONE that you could have added “WE”. We are ONE with Jesus; WE are ONE with the Father and altogether we are ONE.
I am neither you, Jesus or God (the Father) but I am ONE with all. How? Thru the power of God, the Holy Spirit.

Can I divide God? That would make me greater than Him.July 18, 2010 at 5:10 am#204665Oxy
ParticipantHi David, I still prefer to call the Holy Spirit “Him”. He has all the attributes of a being:
1. A spirit is a being (as is a ghost etc.)
2. The Holy Spirit hears
3. The Holy Spirit speaks
4. The Holy Spirit has a voice
5. The Holy Spirit knows the things of God.I'm sure much more could be added to this list, but you get the idea I'm sure.

ParticipantHi Oxy,
You have just told us that you call the Spirit of God a HIM because of the attributes you see written about God's Spirit.
Is that enough for you?July 18, 2010 at 6:36 am#204701Oxy
ParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ July 18 2010,19:19) Hi Oxy,

Why can't you just look at the facts Nick. We are a 3 part being, made in the likeness of God. We are body, soul and spirit.Gos is one yet 3 as He made us.
God, Word and Holy Spirit. For those who are likely to jump in with preconceived ideas, I have not called them equal. Here's another similarity. Our soul makes the decisions as to what we do. Our body is subject to that. Our spirit will try to guide us and knows our innermost thoughts, but the soul decides what to do.
In a similar way, God is the decision maker. The Word and the Holy Spirit both do His bidding.
Think about it.

ADDING logic and observations to scripture is useless.
Does your hand do your bidding?

ParticipantI asked God to explain it to me. This is what He told me. We are made in the likeness of God, a three part being, body, soul and spirit. God is also a three part being, obviously not exactly the same, but the similarities are quite amazing.
