ParticipantYHWH is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?
So “I AM” applies to all three?
Is this what you believe?

ParticipantThis makes me wonder why the Holy Spirit never claimed the name, “I am” as did the other two persons of God?
My sister is a Trinitarian and we had a couple good chats while we were together. We only had a “couple” good chats because she was pretty closed to discussing any scripture with me. One thing we did talk about was the “annointing” and how she said she could tell when certain people “had it” and when certain people did not. I wonder……is the “annointing” something that comes and goes? Or do you have the fullness of God through Christ all the time. I think we have the Holy Spirit with us all the time.

I thought you agreed that the Holy Spirit is God….after all I have seen you affirm that He is the Father's personal Spirit… and God is Spirit……Quote ……is the “annointing” something that comes and goes? I agree with you.John 14:16-17
16″I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

ParticipantIn your opinion, Mandy, is Eph 4:6 speaking of the Holy Spirit?

Ah – great scripture in John, thank you!I just wondered why the Holy Spirit didn't claim the name like some think Jesus did?
If God claimed the name, and Jesus claimed the name, why not the Holy Spirit too?

I would have to say this passage refers to God dwelling in us by his Holy Spirit – yes.July 13, 2007 at 7:58 am#59478Is 1:18

YHWH never once claimed in scripture to have created the planet Saturn. And yet this is not evidence that He did not.July 13, 2007 at 8:01 am#59479Not3in1

Sure. I understand all the justifications that can be given. But it is curious to me that if God is One, and God consists of three DISTINCT persons………..that all three would want to be associated with the name, “I Am.”July 13, 2007 at 8:01 am#59480Is 1:18

Then you agree that the Holy Spirit is God. Since Eph 4:6 is speaking of the One true God, YHWH, then it follows that the Holy Spirit is implicitly called YHWH in this text.July 13, 2007 at 8:05 am#59481Not3in1
ParticipantWhy implicitly? Why not explicitly? The holy Spirit is God; yes.

The spirit of God – is God.

Self-existent? Would we consider our spirits to be thus?God has always existed and always will exist – his spirit is the same.

Because the words “Holy Spirit” are not explicitly mentioned in the verse….Do you agree that this syllogism is logical and fair?
1. Since “The Holy Spirit is God” (your words)
2. And there is only One God, YHWH, Who identifies Himself as “I am”
3. Then the Holy Spirit is “I Am”July 13, 2007 at 8:11 am#59486Not3in1

This is an interesting thought. I would say no. It seems to me that our existence is utterly dependant of YHWH. If He stopped existing (if it were possible), we would too. Our spirits would cease to exist. His existence, in contrast to ours, depends on nothing. That's all conjectural of course, but it makes sense to me.Quote God has always existed and always will exist – his spirit is the same.
