No you explain Moses . One must believe that God did indeed choose Moses to deliver the children of Israel as opposed to Moses just getting tired of seeing the Jews being mistreated and wanting to put a stop to it.
I'll have to find it, but I recently read bits and pieces on some research about Moses. This research led the author to assert that Moses was actually an Egyptian priest. The Jews prior to Moses were henotheistic, and there is some evidence out there that the first monotheist may have been Egyptian. Inspired by this other Egyptian, Moses went to the children of Israel with this God and called him by the name of Yahwah (or Jehovah for your sake). Now according to the OT, the name of YHWH was already there, but now Moses applied the one God to YHWH.
I'll see if I can find the work.

Why does a clever man like yourself need a god at all?February 28, 2008 at 12:21 am#160069kejonnParticipantThanks for calling me clever although I don't think you were trying to compliment me . Let me ask you Nick, does anyone truly NEED God? What are the benefits?
You need food, you need air, you need sleep, you need water. Yet you can't really love any of those things (although some indulge heavily in food ad/or sleep).
Rather, this right thing to say is do you desire God. I desire to believe in God. I believe because I see God at work in the world and in people. I don't believe in God because a book said I need to. Anyone can say anything in a book, but no one else can do what God has truly done.

Do you think knowing about God gives you any eternal advantages?February 28, 2008 at 2:10 am#160071kejonnParticipantNope, it just brings me closer to the one who created. Seeking advantages is a selfish desire.

How close does your awareness bring you?February 28, 2008 at 2:45 am#160073kejonnParticipantJust as close as you. Can you prove otherwise?
