    Hi TT,
He also said the Spirit does not speak on His own initiative but reminds us of the words of Jesus.
Paul was given the practical exposition of how the Spirit would lead us to follow Jesus.

You are mistaken Nick. Jesus did NOT say that the Spirit would remind them of things He said. He said that He had many more things to say to them and that He would send the Spirit to tell them these those things. He said that the Spirit would show them things “to come.”

Your statement that the Spirit would “remind” of past things Jesus said is a total fabrication without any basis at all.

    Hi thethinker:

    What about the following scripture?

    Quote
Jhn 14:26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

    Marty,
Nick was saying that John 16 says that the Holy Spirit would remind them of things Jesus said. But John 16 says that the Holy Spirit would teach them things Jesus had not spoken to them.

    Hi thethinker:

“Bring to remembrance” would be to remind, don't you think?

    Jesus had already taught them.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

    Marty,
You have not followed this discussion with comprehension. Nick denied that Jesus would say more things to them when the Spirit came. Nick was saying that the Spirit would only remind them of what Jesus had already told them. But John 16 does not say that the Spirit would remind them. It says hat the Spirit would disclose new information to them.

    Hi thethinker:

He did show them things to come after he ascended into heaven “The book of Revelation”.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

The book of revelation spoke about The Quran coming.

    Revelation 10
1And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

2And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,

3And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

4And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

5And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,

6And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

7But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

8And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.

9And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.

10And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

11And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

The Quran is a single little book and not part of a bibliography

    Hi BD:

The angel ate the book.  You have to really stretch your imagination to believe that this is speaking of Quran.

I'll tell you what, this thread is called the pure unadulterated gospel and I do believe we have captured the essence of just that:

    Galatians 5
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

    Galatians 5 (King James Version)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

    1 John 3
11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

Greetings BD…..The true Gospel or good news has got to be the most sought after phenomonon of our lives….This forum makes a decent attempt at bringing it to fore…To love one another and treat our neighbor as we would treat ourselves takes the grace of God…Life consists of trying to do that and failing and going before God for forgiveness and another chance to try again…
