It’s painfully obvious (by the universal amount of denominational divisions) that there have always been problems with understanding the Word of God – problems actually, that go right back to the garden…
Satan instigated counterfeit religion when he succeeded in drawing Eve away (from pure and simple trust in God’s Word) – into the shady domain of human reasoning… and from there the greatest enemy to truth has become the old subtle serpent of our own natural wisdom..
When we open the Word we either partake from the Tree of Life, or from the Tree of Knowledge…one looks good, and seems good to our carnal mind… and yet it’s fruit is death – while the other seems terribly ordinary, and overlooked…yet it’s fruit is the Life of divine revelation (our daily bread).
There is only one way to understand Scripture – meditate and prayerfully listen for the voice of the Spirit that speaks in the stillness of your heart. The Pharisees had abundant learning in the written Word…and yet their puffed up knowledge of the truth only isolated them further and further from the truth.. to the point where they actually fulfilled the desires of Satan, while thinking all the time they were serving God..!!
That is how deluded we also can get by relying on our own natural understanding and abilities to interpret the meaning of Scripture. Yet the reason we continually do this is because it’s the only way we’ve been shown…but if we are to learn aright, we must first unlearn the ways of man (that have caused so much damage) – and learn again HOW to learn.
Put simply –
Scripture was given by the Spirit..
and must be received by the Spirit.June 30, 2015 at 6:56 am#800401NickHassanParticipantHi Davidl,
Acts 2.
Jesus the nazarene, a MAN approved by God..
But you say he is God?
June 30, 2015 at 12:19 pm#800413kerwinParticipantDavidL,
Put simply –
Scripture was given by the Spirit..
and must be received by the Spirit. This is true and Jesus knew it was true even as he used a logical argument to prove their is a resurrection of the dead to the Sadducees. Part of his argument was that Scripture cannot be broken.
Those that teach Scripture can be broken are not from God.
June 30, 2015 at 1:20 pm#800418NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
How is the fact that Jesus said that
“God is the God of the living”
somehow using logic?
June 30, 2015 at 1:41 pm#800420kerwinParticipantNick,
That is a premise.
It helps support the conclusion and as it is part of the input of the argument. The conclusion is the output of the argument.
Logical reasoning is just the form of the argument.
June 30, 2015 at 2:03 pm#800425NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
What argument?
God reveals truth just as Peter was taught about Christ Jesus.
Not through logic
June 30, 2015 at 2:27 pm#800429kerwinParticipantNick.
God reveals truth just as Peter was taught about Christ Jesus.
Why do you feel have the authority to tell God how he reveals truth?
We do not know the mechanism God used to reveal because it is not written. We know the conclusion that Peter came to because it is written that he declares Jesus is the Christ; the Son of the Living God.
Not through logic
Your words that are supported by Scripture.

No Jesus and Paul told us-by the Spirit.
June 30, 2015 at 3:18 pm#800442NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
The Wind that blows when it wants to.
Not through our control.
June 30, 2015 at 3:35 pm#800444kerwinParticipantNick,
Hi KW,
No Jesus and Paul told us-by the Spirit.
I have not disagreed with that idea yet.
Logical reasoning is a tool the Spirit can choose to use and is not in opposition to the Spirit.
It is the flesh that is in opposition to the Spirit.
The Spirit went into synagogues and reasoned from Scripture with the Jews.
The Spirit reasoned with the Sadducees in order to teach them there is a resurrection of the dead.
You have been taught that reason is opposed to the Spirit but Scripture reveals it is not opposed but instead used by the Spirit as a tool.
Give up falsehood and embrace the truth.
June 30, 2015 at 3:47 pm#800446NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Logic is not truth.
It is too subject to human manipulation and influence.
thy Word is truth
June 30, 2015 at 5:13 pm#800450kerwinParticipantNick,
Why are you striving so much to hang onto a teaching that is not written in Scripture?
Human words are subject to the manipulation of the flesh and yet Jesus uses them to speak Spiritual messages.
June 30, 2015 at 5:15 pm#800451NickHassanParticipantHi davidl,
Everyone seems to think they have the Spirit but few agree.
The scriptural way of establishing truth is by the principle of 2 Cor 13.1f
Find it written twice and you have found a witness to any verse. 3 means stronger proof.
There are 4 gospel accounts and this is the divine purpose.
June 30, 2015 at 5:23 pm#800454kerwinParticipantNick,

Jesus only quoted one verse to the Sadducees and then he revealed by the implications of those words.
To us two or three reliable verses are best lest we misunderstand the first.
I have seen those who believe in lies quote several verses the do understand in order to support their doctrine.
You must be taught by the Spirit.
June 30, 2015 at 6:40 pm#800458NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Scripture speaks for the simpleminded ones.
Complications are for those who think they are clever.
June 30, 2015 at 9:34 pm#800460kerwinParticipantNick,
All human being a clever but only those that hunger and thirst for righteousness will understand correctly. We are commanded to be as wise as a serpent in order to avoid the tricks of the devil.
June 30, 2015 at 9:35 pm#800461kerwinParticipantNick,
I do want to be wise in the things of this world because they are the works of the flesh.
July 1, 2015 at 6:24 am#800463NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Of course all is of grace.
Including righteousness.
July 1, 2015 at 6:31 am#800464NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Those whom the Son sets free
are free indeed.
July 1, 2015 at 8:07 am#800467kerwinParticipantNick,
Yes!
