ParticipantThis is the concealed history that young earth creationists wish to keep hidden. The actual beliefs of Christianity regarding the age of the earth and creation have been largely forgotten due to the recent surge of young earth creationism. However, there exists substantial evidence indicating that before the 1960s, the majority of Christians believed in an earth much older than 6000 years.

ParticipantRemember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
[9] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
[10] But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:π
[11] πFor in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, andπ rested the seventh day: wherefore πthe LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.πFebruary 2, 2025 at 10:25 pm#947200Proclaimer
ParticipantIs it still the seventh day or did that only last 24 hours?

ParticipantGod does not change, nor does His law. He is sovereign and always will be; righteous and always will be; holy and always will be. He is perfect and always will be, and so is His law, a reflection of His moral character.
For I am the LORD, I change not: therefore ye, O sons of Jacob, be not consumed. (Mal.3:6)
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfill. (Matt.5:17)
Do we then make void the law through faith? Far be it! But we establish the law. (Romans 3:31)
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous. (1 John 5:3)
It’s the Roman Catholic church/beast that hoped/hopes to change the law…
Daniel 7:25
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and πlaws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. (1260 years)Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.(Rev.22:14)

ParticipantYou conveniently avoided the question. Here it is again?
Are we still in the seventh day or did that only last 24 hours?
February 3, 2025 at 6:01 am#947204Berean
ParticipantOn the seventh day God ended his work which he had made, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
[ 3 ] And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in itπhe rested from all his work which he had created and made.
Proclaimer,
If we were still in the seventh day, the day on which God rested, then that would mean that God is really really tired of having made heaven and earth. !!!!!!?????

Participantand he rested the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Seriously, I don’t think God was tired after the 6 days of his creation.
I think rather that the verb to rest in this context means something other than to rest
to rest
shabbath
7673
a primitive root; to rest, that is, to give up effort; used in many implicit relationships (causative, figurative, or specific): – (to do, to let, to make) cease, to celebrate, to cause to fail (to do), to observe (the Sabbath), to suffer from lack, to leave, to put away (down), (to make) to rest, to get rid of, to be still, to carry away.

I remember 3 words, those in bold above, a mix of these three words.

I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT We ββare still in the seventh day.
I believe that there is a direct connection between the DAYS of Genesis 1 and EXODUS 20, that is to say 24 hour days.
I believe this VERY STRONGLY.February 3, 2025 at 9:50 am#947206Proclaimer

I think rest just means cease and to enjoy the fruits of his labour.
“For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”
But the point is really this, that the seventh day is not 24 hours, then why are the other days 24 hours? They are not obviously.
February 3, 2025 at 8:20 pm#947208Berean
ParticipantWhat seventh day are you talking about?
The one that God instituted after the 6 days of creation?
Or the seventh day of our week?February 4, 2025 at 7:02 am#947209Berean

But the point is really this, that the seventh day is not 24 hours, then why are the other days 24 hours? They are not obviously.
Me
But what makes you say that?
Genesis 1 does not specify the length of a day
What we know is that a day according to divine revelation begins at sunset and ends at sunset. In Genesis 1, it is said
There was evening, and there was morning: this was the first day.πThere was evening…which begins at sunset and ends at sunrise
πand there was morning.…which begins at sunrise and ends at sunsetIT’S AS SIMPLE AS THAT
THUS, the week of Genesis 1 IS A PROTOTYPE WEEK OF ALL THE OTHER WEEKS THAT WERE TO FOLLOW THIS FIRST WEEK,
INCLUDING THE SABBATH DAY.WHY WOULD IT BE OTHERWISE?

ParticipantExodus 20:11
“For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”So you argue that the six days were 24 hours but not the seventh day then.
That is fine. But you are picking and choosing to some degree right?
February 6, 2025 at 2:38 am#947211Berean
ParticipantI don’t think I said the seventh day was not 24 hours. No, I said
copy and paste:
“THERE, the week of Genesis 1 IS A PROTOTYPE WEEK FOR ALL OTHER WEEKS THAT WERE TO FOLLOW THIS FIRST WEEK,
INCLUDING THE SABBATH.”The Sabbath is 24 hours like the other days. Why would it be any different?
In fact, a whole day is not made by the sun but by the revolution of the earth on its axis, and the earth could rotate if the sun and moon did not shine.
This is what I believe happened before lights were created, the earth rotated on its axis and determined the length of a day.February 7, 2025 at 2:05 pm#947214Proclaimer
ParticipantI will ask the question again in a more clear and concise way.
If the 6 creation days are 24 hours, is the seventh day 24 hours meaning God only rested for 24 hours, or is the seven day still going meaning God is at rest from creation?
Please look at the title of this topic. It is not about the days of the week and the Sabbath as such. It is about the creation days in Genesis.

ParticipantI will ask the question again in a more clear and concise way.
If the 6 creation days are 24 hours
YES THEY ARE
, is the seventh day 24 hours
YES THE SEVENTH DAY IS 24 HOURS
meaning God only rested for 24 hours,
YES GOD only RESTED 24 HOURS
or do the seven days still continue
of course the creation week was followed by another 7 day week and so on….
meaning God is at rest from creation?
He was but is not anymore BECAUSE OF SIN
HE WILL BE AGAIN WHEN HIS CHILDREN ARE WITH HIM ON THE NEW EARTH!
Rev. 21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
[2] And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
[3] And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and πhe will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, andπ God himself shall be with them,π and be their God.
[4] And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Please look at the title of this topic. It is not about the days of the week and the Sabbath as such. It is about the creation days in Genesis.
Well I think they are 24 hour days.
The earth takes about 24 hours to make a complete rotation on its axis
This has been happening since the first day (vv.1-5)π

ParticipantYES THE SEVENTH DAY IS 24 HOURS
meaning God only rested for 24 hours,
YES GOD only RESTED 24 HOURS
or do the seven days still continue
There are numerous scriptures that talk about entering HIS rest.
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Doesn’t look like 24 hours to me. Once our labour is over, we enter into HIS rest.
So you cannot enter his rest by your own belief because your doctrine says that it only lasted 24 hours, so you missed out. Whereas, I believe that I will enter God’s rest when my life here is completed. Or I hope to at least.
Perhaps you believe in another rest or multiple rests?
Because God talks about this rest in both the new and old testaments, I guess you beleive in many. Do you know exactly how many rests you believe in?
“Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.”

ParticipantYou
There are many scriptures that talk about entering into HIS rest.Me
Yes, Jesus tells us: come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.
[ 30 ] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.you
Therefore there is a rest reserved for the people of God. For he who has entered his rest has ceased from his own works, just as God did from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, lest anyone fall by following the same example of unbelief. That doesnβt sound like 24 hours to me.
Me
YES. GOD rested ON THE SEVENTH DAY.
AND HE WORKED THE NEXT WEEK.
HIS JOB IS πTO REIGNE RIGHTLY OVER HIS CREATION.MOREOVER WHEN SIN ENTERED THE WORLD, GOD’S TASK WAS INCREASED.
IT IS TO RESTORE THE HUMAN RACE TO ITS ORIGINAL DIGNITY.WE ARE ALMOST AT THE END OF THIS DIVINE WORK.
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
[9] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
[10] But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
[11] For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.1John.5
[1] Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
[2] By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
[3]π For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.π
[4] For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.Rev.14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.
Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.(1Chr.29:11,12)π
