Hi,
Ken and Reg had just been through the gate and sent on their journey. They were fully equipped and supplied and shown the narrow winding path being warned never to stray off it.
They had not gone far when they saw a signpost pointing more or less in the same direction. It was wider and easier to walk on it and many of those ahead of them seemed to have taken this choice . They seemed to be happy and enjoying the journey far more than they were.
They sat down and thought about things.

” I know our instructions were clear but did we hear wrong? Everyone one else seems to have taken this other road and perhaps we misheard? Perhaps we were meant to read between the lines and see that if there was an obvious easier way we should choose it? You just have to agree that we are the odd ones out here and that makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.There is safety in numbers you know”Ken was ready to agree with him when he saw that there were others on that other path that had not been through the gate and the two groups were mingling as one.They were not dressed in the right clothes either.
He also saw a few others running back towards their path as if they were frightened. When he looked towards the horizon he could see why. While their own goat track was visible far into the distance climbing around peaks and clifftops the other track slowly and gently wound down hill towards mists and swamps. Those on that path could not see into the far distance as they were too low on the side of the hill. There were lots of vultures circling over the area at the bottom in the distance from which smoke could also be seen rising.
Ken said. ” I know I am not a very clever fellow but I prefer to follow the advice we were given. We can see our path far into the distance and I see no good reason to disobey our orders.”
Can You?No there is no good reason to disobey!! I am learning the importance of obedience and submission to God and what He speaks to us. Excellent story!!
Hi,
One of the problems in life is that God is so patient. He lets us do stupid things for a long time and cause ourselves all sorts of miseries before he deals to us. I am grateful for the unseen angels He has sent, that have stood in the path and not let this donkey go too far down the wrong roads in my wanderings. The will of God is always available and made plain to us if we get in the habit of seeking it.
