Hi 94,
So scripture does not speak of spiritual death.
So why should we?July 9, 2007 at 6:33 pm#58918acertainchapParticipantTell me this, what is the point of having a soul in us, if many people are just burned up out of existence in the lake of fire? God made us in his image. Therefore being made such, we are meant to live forever. There is no annihalation.

The Lake of fire was not originally made for men but for evil angels.[Mt25]July 11, 2007 at 1:38 am#59157942767ParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ July 10 2007,06:28) Quote (942767 @ July 10 2007,04:13) Quote (Nick Hassan @ July 09 2007,13:57) Hi 94,

Hi Nick:There is a distinction between being dead in one's trespasses which is spiritual death and physical death. And I used the term “spiritual death” to show that distinction.
Relative to the meaning of the word “dead” in Ephesians 2:1 strong's concordance gives the following:
The KJV New Testament Greek Lexicon
Strong's Number: 3498 Browse Lexicon
Original Word Word Origin
nekrov/FONT> from an apparently primary nekus (a corpse)
Transliterated Word TDNT Entry
Nekros 4:892,627
Phonetic Spelling Parts of Speech
nek-ros' AdjectiveDefinition
properly
one that has breathed his last, lifeless deceased, departed, one whose soul is in heaven or hell destitute of life, without life, inanimate metaph.
spiritually dead
destitute of a life that recognises and is devoted to God, because given up to trespasses and sins inactive as respects doing right destitute of force or power, inactive, inoperativeAnd so, I hope it is ok with you if I use the words “spiritual death” to make the distinction between one being dead in their sins or trespasses and one being physically dead. You don't have to use the term, and that's ok with me.

So spiritual death is not scriptural.July 11, 2007 at 2:11 am#59163942767ParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ July 11 2007,13:43) Hi 94,

Hi Nick:If you want a scripture which states specifically “spiritual death” in those specific words the answer is that there probably isn't one, but if one is dead in their trespasses, that is what is meant(The definition in Strong's Condordance bears this out). And so personally, I'll use the term to make the distinction between someone being dead in their trespasses and someone being dead physically. In any case, this discussion started with your statement that “all men are living souls”, and that is not true.
July 11, 2007 at 2:59 am#59167NickHassanParticipantHi 94,
Adam was made a living soul.“7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. “
I am a son of Adam.
