If we are seeking the scriptures, then we are seeking God, to gain spiritual knowledge that can only come from God.
I would not call this self serving, I would call this putting God first.  This is what he wants us to do and this is what Christ mean't when he said eat my flesh, because the words he speaks  are spirit, and from those words we find life, not only from the gospels, but also from the prophesies because God is revealing his plan to us so that we do not take the wrong turn, especially us of the last generation.

How can armageddon be after the millenium?
The rock that was cut without hands, is to crush the
image into dust; THEN, the Lord will set up his kingdom, which shall lats for ever.(last for ever).

Not the other way around; like set up his kingdom;then bring forth armageddon.

Babylon will be *NO MORE* first;then the setting up of the kingdom. The Lord and his saints will rule for a 1000yrs.
