Quote (942767 @ Feb. 11 2014,08:35) The body that we have is the Holy Temple of God, and we should take very good care of it. The Apostle Paul is speaking specifically here relative to the sin of fornication, but I believe that it applies also, to being careful as to what we eat, drink, or making sure that we exercise to keep our bodies and mind healthy so we can serve the Lord effectively.
I used to drink quite a bit of tea, but now I am trying to limit myself to 2 cups a day. One in the morning and at noon, and no, tea after 7PM.
Love in Christ,
Marty
It is interesting if you quit tea or coffee (and added sugar) cold turkey you get a wicked headache which is apparently due to the blood vessels in the brain being constricted due to the effects of drinking caffeine, and then when you quit, the vessels open up to allow healthy blood flow, and that causes the wicked head ache. That shows just how much effect caffeine has on us.I had pain in my head, down my neck, and eventually in my legs for three days, maybe four, then I was fine. I had high blood pressure and a fast heartrate for years, waiting to see specialist. Well, I no longer have HBP, and my heart rate is down to normal again (from resting 120) after just a week.
I'm trying to get my mother to quit her few cups of tea and sugar she has dangerously high blood pressure, and takes no medication. I think it might help her.

Taken from that link you posted.Quote The phrase “not given (prosecho) to much wine” means: do not let wine “hold the mind” or pay attention to it. The Bible does not contradict itself, in I Timothy 5:23, Paul advises Timothy to use a little wine for his infirmities or for medicinal purposes only.
“not given (prosecho) to much wine” or “Not given to wine” is not the same as abstaining from drinking wine. It means not drinking too much wine or letting it rule you.We are also told elsewhere that drunkards do not inherit the Kingdom of God. It doesn't say people who drink wine do not inherit the kingdom. If it meant the latter, then why did Jesus turn water into wine if it is a sin.
According to some, the wine from water was grape juice, not alcohol.
Also:
Jesus was King yes, from birth.
'It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
it is not for kings to drink wine,
or for rulers to desire strong drink;
lest they drink and forget what has been decreed,
and pervert the rights of all the afflicted.'
Proverbs 31:4And Christians..
'made us a kingdom,
priests to his God and Father,
to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever.
Amen.'
Revelation 1:6'And the LORD spoke to Aaron,
saying,
“Drink no wine nor strong drink,
you nor your sons with you,
when you go into the tent of meeting,
lest you die;
it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations.
You are to distinguish between the holy and the common,
and between the unclean and the clean.”
Levi 10:8“Say to the people of Israel,
When either a man or a woman makes a special vow,
the vow of a Nazirite,
to separate himself to the LORD,
he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink;
he shall drink no vinegar made from wine or strong drink,
and shall not drink any juice of grapes or eat grapes,
fresh or dried.
All the days of his separation he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine,
not even the seeds or the skins.'
Num 6:1I think the story of the obedient Rechabites (Jeremiah 35) is a good one. And John the Baptist did not touch wine.
I think you are right t8, maybe. But by moderation, I would say twice a year?!
If wine is causing us trouble, then we should stop. When I drink, I get really happy, and turn on my old music, and sing to it… but one glass becomes two glasses, a few nights a week becomes every night of the week. And I know that when I was first drawn to God, I drank no alcohol. I needed none (I lived with a drunk which put me off) however…I started drinking, and I do not believe it's good for me. I personally do not think after reading those scriptures that a Christian should drink to feel good. But that's just my opinion.
“when you go into the tent of meeting,” is a key verse because it suggests that no alcohol be consumed when doing that because of the importance of those meetings. But that is different to never drinking alcohol. I haven't seen a scripture that says we should not drink alcohol.Another verse that is quoted as saying that you shall not drink wine also mentions not eating grapes which are a very healthy fruit and also consuming vinegar which would rule out salad dressings etc. I think there are special circumstances when one should not drink any alcohol, but it is not a general rule for all time. It seems especially more important when you have a special ministry in God and when we separate ourselves to the LORD because it has the potential to ruin us. Perhaps this is where wisdom comes in. We should know our own weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
And certainly if someone has a problem with alcohol or is tempted to drink too much, then abstinence may be the wise thing to do. For me, a casual beer or a couple of glasses of wine at the end of the week, is something I enjoy.

Mind you, 15 cups a day was pretty excessive. I am sure that if I drank 15 cups, I would get little quality sleep and have heart palpitations.February 12, 2014 at 10:34 pm#3710942beseeParticipantYes t8, I can't believe the huge drop in my pulse from the regular 120 to 70 bpm now!! (It was almost double, for years.)

Fair enough, can't argue with that.
February 19, 2014 at 5:56 pm#371455LightenupParticipantHi 2besee and all,
Glad you realized that you needed to cut back/quit your coffee consumption. Water is so much better for you! Coffee does have some health benefits though and is also a stimulant so should not be over indulged or you will be over stimulated. A healthy way to sweeten and cream your coffee is with stevia or local honey and heavy organic cream, also coconut cream is good. That way you have your coffee and it is sweetened with a natural, healthy sweetener and the heavy organic cream is a healthy fat which our bodies need. I just drink 1 cup a day, if that. I have never had any headaches from missing a day or longer but I have friends who have. I too have to drink coffee earlier in the day or it will keep me awake when I want to sleep. I used to add only a flavored creamer sweetened with high fructose corn syrup…not good. Corn syrup is to be avoided.Read your labels and see how many things have high fructose corn syrup in them. Try to reduce your consumption of this. Don't use artificial sweeteners either. Also eat grass fed beef and not corn fed beef. Another thing, eat organic eggs from free range chickens. We have a freezer full of venison here since hunting season got over a month or so ago. That is incredibly healthy meat and if anyone has a great recipe for venison, let me know.
Take care of your health!
February 19, 2014 at 8:45 pm#3714592beseeParticipantHi LU, I can't believe how many miracles God is working recently, even in regards to health!
And yes, FREE RANGE EGGS is the only way to go, those poor factory farmed Chickens (I have always wanted to set them free)
I believe many people suffering High Blood Pressure, and on medication, could be helped from simply quitting caffeine and sugar in any way shape or form, and table salt also should be avoided and a natural alternative used (such as Himalayan Pink Rock Salt – MEASURED (research the daily recommendations of sodium, and take into consideration that sodium is also in bread)…… and that these simple changes to diet could, like myself, possibly bring a persons Blood Pressure down to perfect levels (mine is now 120/80 – it WAS 180/110 daily).
That being said, we are vegetarians, we eat only natural (no processed food, etc), and we walk daily, so all of those things help too.
And Honey – Well, John the Baptist lived on a diet of Locusts and Honey. So it must be good for you!
All, please take care of your health :o)
February 19, 2014 at 10:31 pm#371475LightenupParticipantHi 2besee,
I am happy for you to get that bp down without meds!! Have you been a vegetarian during the time your bp was 180/110?I would love to hear more about the miracles that God has been doing in your life.
February 20, 2014 at 9:34 am#3715242beseeParticipantLU,
My BP was high daily for years, ended up in A&E about two years ago (Doctor called the Ambulance when I finally went to see her), eventually put on Calcium Chanel Blockers, hated the side effects, then weaned myself off them, BP still high, and then decided there must be a cause. Eliminated caffeine and sugar and it went down, and stayed down.
Quote Have you been a vegetarian during the time your bp was 180/110? I was a big meat eater: BP high, then a Vegetarian: BP still high. So it didn't make any difference to BP.
Quote I would love to hear more about the miracles that God has been doing in your life. Thanks. Maybe soon.
February 20, 2014 at 5:34 pm#371531kerwinParticipant2besee,
Coffee is a blood thinner. It causes me a headache any time I quit it as the thicker blood puts more pressure behind my eyes. I seem to adjust within a day or two. A couple of aspirins take care of the pain.
I stopped the sugar because of being overweight and the creamer has some in it anyways. Tooth decay is also becoming a problem as I take anti-rejection drugs.
February 20, 2014 at 9:31 pm#3715382beseeParticipantThanks Kerwin I didn't know coffee was a blood thinner, I know caffeine constricts the blood vessels and when you quit they widen, which is better.
I always thought having no coffee I would be half asleep all day but quite the opposite, I am more wide awake because I am sleeping better.
Kerwin, if you don't mind my asking, which anti-rejection drug are you on? You don't need to answer if you don't want in public. They seem to have some side effects from what I read.

yeah coffee as different effects to different people ,in the old country when i was young we use to mix 50% coffee with 50% chicory (made from the leaves of Belgian endive ) what increases the bitterness ,but i got use to that and love as a cold drink ,it was so black that you can add one gallon of water to two cups of that coffee and it would be still black
February 21, 2014 at 11:34 am#371593kerwinParticipant2besee,
It seems it is a myth that coffee is a blood thinner.
February 21, 2014 at 8:41 pm#3716032beseeParticipantKerwin, true I have not read that caffeine is a blood thinner. Was just looking, and Wikipedia says:
“Caffeine increases cardiac arrhythmia (improper heart rate) by increasing stress hormone (e.g.adrenaline) secretions. It has been shown there is an increase in brachial diastolic blood pressure, but not in brachial systolic blood pressure. However, both aortic systolic and diastolic blood pressures increase significantly during caffeine consumption. It has been noted that long term consumption leads to increasing aortic systolic pressure which leads to chronic arterial stiffness. The results of increasing blood pressure mostly contributes to blockage of Adenosine A1 and A2 receptors. Since caffeine blocks adenosine A2 receptors which has vasodilatory function, blood vessels become less dilated. (i.e. vasoconstriction)” unquote.
Caffeine constricts blood vessels, but apparently alcohol, quote, “In moderate amounts, alcohol can cause blood vessel dilation which actually improves circulation…..Excess drinking can cause an increase in your blood pressure, but is not specifically associated with poor circulation.”
Interesting.

By quitting wine and the rest and just drink water; that brings you closer to God I suppose?
Is that not just cleaning the cup on the outside?
Can a person with TB or cancer still receive the HS and be saved ?
Just wondering.
wakeup.
August 17, 2014 at 1:14 am#710585princessParticipanthello Wakeup
Technically it would be cleansing the inside, water is a great health benefit to any living organism. You got me on the holy spirit thing I am not one to tell another to call on any spirit to inhabit their body, really not a safe practice too many of those false ones running rapid those bastards will trick you in a heartbeat and then go tell all their buddies how easily it was and come on over and join the party.
I am one that believes that the pure spirit is within in us, we are born with it and we die with it, what we choose to do with it during life is what makes or breaks us. So what I believe is more of cleaning the inside of the cup. Then having something poured over me to cleanse, that is cleaning the outside.
I understand you go by the book, but you do understand what I am saying right?
August 17, 2014 at 1:41 am#710601WakeupParticipantThank you Princess.
1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
wakeup.
