    Hi,
Scripture offers us a way of establishing truth as proven and we should not expect everything found written once to be accepted according to the eyes of the one presenting it.

Misunderstandings can occur and translators bias or old english words can lead to confusion.

    2Cor 13.1

“…EVERY FACT IS TO BE CONFIRMED BY THE TESTIMONY OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES.”

    Deut17

6″On the evidence of two witnesses or three witnesses, he who is to die shall be put to death; he shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness.

    Deut19
15″A single witness shall not rise up against a man on account of any iniquity or any sin which he has committed; on the evidence of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed.

    Mt18
16″But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED.

God gave us the observations of 4 apostles to compare and confirm truth.

    Hi Georg,
You should study how truth is established.
Find scriptural witnesses before adding your opinions.

    Hi,
The light has come into the world but darkness is preferred.
We are told what to do but philosphy and theology are far more popular.

    Hi Nick,

You are so right about translators and biases.

I grew up Catholic and had the predisposition to believe in the Trinity. Now I don't. I grew up thinking that God was masculine by nature…I know differently now.

Many churches taught me that the Holy Spirit was a force from God, the Father and called the HS a “He”. Now I know that the HS is feminine and is the “other half” of Elohim….separate and distinct.

ONE ('Echad) God (Elohim) is different from ONE (yachid) God (El). In English they are the same thing until you see the Hebrew word in parenthesis thereby giving you the better understanding.

You've seen my other posts re: Elohim so I won't repeat the definition.

What I see as “truth” and “proof” is because of the knowledge and biases I behold, just as you present the Scriptures in the manner that you see them.

My witnesses are the Holy Spirit who dwells in me, Jesus the Living Word, and the Bible and hopefully I will present the “truth” as they would have me do. But most importantly I must witness in truth and love and not allow myself to be haughty.

I try to take Jesus' words when he talked in the Gospels as the truth. I depend on the Holy Spirit to guide me as I read and when I witness; and I try to avoid man-made doctrines.

I am an American and live in Colombia and MUST speak Spanish when talking to the people in the town. Seeing that the town is 95% Catholics I have to be able to “prove” what I say by the Bible, which 95% of them do not know. So, it is a constant battle by what they have been taught versus what is in the Bible….they prefer the teachings of the Church over the writings in the Bible and repeat doctrine versus truth.

It is nice that you, Nick, quote the Bible and how they are applied in your thought processes. This way truth and other concepts can be gathered when I read the verses myself.

    Hi,
Comparing scriptures is the way God wants us to establish scriptural facts

    Nick,
I agree, I believe that it is the “whole of scripture” that provides the true understanding on the translation of what was intended in a scripture, then that which could otherwise be misunderstood from the various translations available to us.

    My opinion – Wm
