Scientists may have found various ways of keeping the human body alive perhaps forever, ranging from an “immortality gene” to simply replacing and restoring our bodies when they start failing. There has also been experiments with insects, that show that longevity if not immortality itself is in grasp.
So is this good or bad? Should we fight death or we should we let it happen? Would you want to be immortal if you had the chance?

What could be worse than being locked in this tent?March 4, 2008 at 7:22 am#83113StuParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ Mar. 04 2008,08:19) Hi and welcome Vel,
What could be worse than being locked in this tent?
Having to share the tent with a miseryguts impatient for his vainly awaited judgement day?Stuart

However upon further reflection I feel such an existence may ultimately lead to stagnation not just for ourselves but civilization and mankind itself. In a spiritual sense I view that we are already immortal and death simply the end of our current material existence (yes an unsupported belief, Stuart), so death is something I do not fear, yet having obligations and responsibilities I would avoid at all costs for those dependent on me. Now having said that I do not fear death, I do fear the act of dying as I can imagine a variety of gruesome and painful death scenarios I would rather not experience.

Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:No matter what man thinks…boy we can sure think up some stuff. Science will not save him. In fact before the end men will beg for death, and it will flee them.
Revelation 9:6
And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.…so maybe this is some of the “You reap what you sow” business. Trying to find a way to live forever looks like it is going to “Back-Fire” on us…them.

The rest is just hopeful expectation. I have to ask, what are you doing to make the present world a better place?March 28, 2008 at 6:02 am#85066SamuelParticipantWhat am I doing to make the world a better place?
I'm trying to “Fix” myself.
