Hi ED,
Rather than grasping at straws of speculation why not search for similar scriptures and find proofs?[2Cor13.1]July 16, 2010 at 3:27 am#204116barleyParticipantQuote (Gene Balthrop @ July 08 2008,14:35) Nick…..so do we trust scripture first , when do we get around to trusting God the Father and Jesus Christ. (Last)
I wondered whether I wanted to butt into your dialogue with Nick, but since this is kind of expected, I thought I might have somewhat to say.Let us consider this example. Say your bank statement says you have a million dollars in savings. You bank at the bank of God. You have never met the president of the bank, and for that matter most of the employees of the bank. Yet your bank statement says you have a million bucks. Do you believe your bank statement?
Do you believe that the people who work for the bank are trustworthy? You bank there, you must believe them to be trustworthy. You do not have a personal relationship with the bank president, yet you believe his words that are on the bank statement. If you are overseas and send a letter to your family, do you have a personal relationship with your family based on the fact that you sent them a letter?
Yes, you would not have sent them a letter unless you have a personal relationship with them.
God has enabled us to have a personal relationship with him by the words of the logos, the scripture that He has made available to us. Unless we recognize this, we cannot develop a relationship with God. We must make use of the letters, the words, the logos that He sent us. We must be faithful in least, so that God can bless us with more.
Of course, I am not implying that the word, the logos is least. On the contrary, it is the best. We can know God and Jesus Christ and each other better, as we utilize the written instructions for life that God provided for us.
That is our bread of life. That is the fountain of living waters for us. John 17:17. The word is truth.
As we live according to that truth, we will develop our relationship with God.
Have a great day!

Hi Nick,Can you offer an explanation: why different denominations of Christianity
(say the are not Christian and) are trying to convert each other?
Ezekiel 35:5-6 offers a (possible) “Spiritual explanation”.God bless

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Note what it does not say:1. It does not say you have to confess your sins.
2. It does say you have to go to church.
3. It does not say anything about accepting Jesus as your savior. Although admittedly, when anyone makes and keeps him lord in their life, their life will improve incredibly, first off, by their obtaining salvation.
4. It does not say anything about repenting or crying your eyes out, or answering an altar call. They may be involved, but have nothing to do with obtaining salvation. The way to salvation was made very simple because of what God had Jesus Christ do for us.
Hi Barley,Have you ever considered these verses?
Ezekiel 35:5-6 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred,
and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword (The Bible)
in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end: Therefore, as I live, saith the
Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even
blood shall pursue thee. Could this be talking about different the denominations now trying to convert each other?God bless

Ezekiel is not a book that I have spent a lot of time in.I would not want to venture an opinion of what those verses are intended to communicate. What I do know about the book of Ezekiel is that is has nothing to specifically say to the age in which we live. That is, after the day of Pentecost. Ezekiel is a portion of the truth that God revealed to Israel. (and it maybe that some portions of it pertain to the Gentiles) What these truths can teach us that help us out today, I will let others handle. We, as Christians have plenty on our plate without trying to take on God's will to Israel.
There is plenty that we could learn from each other. Let us grow up to have the humility and meekness to do so.
Hi Barley,How can you 'know that' if you have not 'spent a lot of time in' it?

and we have to start the preaching to us,first so we can show the difference between the one who serve God and the one who does not.

July 17, 2010 at 6:22 am#204416NickHassanParticipantHi ED,
Yes he did tell Timothy to do that.
There are apostles and teachers, prophets and healers and those with other Spiritual gifts.
These powerful gifts are given to enable those chosen to specific roles to accomplish those works given to them by God.But man would appoint every man to be an evangelist working in his own will and strength.
Peter gave more sound advice[1peter2. 11-22, 3.1-16]
