Hi KW,
Better to let the word use you.
Presumption is not faith .

God uses me as he chooses. He commanded me to test the spirit of what I hear and believe and so I do.
August 6, 2015 at 9:11 am#801782kerwinParticipantNick,
Presumption is to presume that the word spirit means composed of spirit in those instances it is convenient to your traditions.
August 6, 2015 at 9:11 am#801783NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Then let scripture teach you by seeking supporting verses.
The natural mind fights against the Spirit.
August 6, 2015 at 9:12 am#801784NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
You still try to force spiritual matters to conform to carnal understandings.
August 6, 2015 at 9:14 am#801785kerwinParticipantNick,
I already have supporting passages but others seek to make new teaching to explain how their mistaken interpretations do not disagree with those passages.
August 6, 2015 at 9:19 am#801786NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Others?
Perhaps your complacency is blinding you?
August 7, 2015 at 11:37 pm#801888ProclaimerParticipantPaul did not say that his words are to the effect that there is a soulish body and a Spiritual body. It equivalent to saying there is a godless body and a godly body. He is using a OT teaching that many English language bible obscure because that translate the Hebrew and Greek words that are close synonyms of soul to other words but soul.
You can look word translated “natural” 1 Corinthians 15 of the KJV and you will find it is in fact the adjective form of soul.Read on as he talks about different kinds of flesh and glory.

And if having the nature of God and then emptying himself and taking flesh makes him a deceiver, then he must be a deceiver if what you say is correct.
Romans 1:4 testifies that Jesus is the Son of God, as of the Spirit and that was declared with power by his resurrection from the dead.
Romans 1:3 testifies that Jesus Christ is the Son of the seed of David, as of the flesh. If you desire to remain true to Scripture your teaching must agree with both of those.
Romans 1:4 testifies that Jesus is the Son of God, as of the Spirit and that was declared with power by his resurrection from the dead.
“in power” are the key words that you are missing. It is not saying that he was not the son of God before that, but that he was the son of God IN POWER. Because of the resurrection, God chose to appoint him as the Son of God in power. The point about the resurrection is that if Christ had not been raised, then our preaching is futile and our faith is in vain. The Resurrection showed the son of God as a powerful being as opposed to the saviour who came to us in humble circumstances. And he will return as a reigning king to rule with an iron rod. Try to think about Jesus on a donkey compared to coming on a white horse. One is in power, while the other was with much humility to the point of later rejection.
Surely the rider on the while horse comes in power while the rider on the donkey came not in power but very much in humility.

You are correct that Paul says there are different types of flesh and yet some assume there is one type of flesh when they hear 1 Corinthians 15:50 even though other see flesh and blood being an idiom and therefore not to be taken literally. The mystery is why did Paul choose to use words that were open to interpretation, even at the time he spoke. He seems more concerned about making other points that about teaching us what the resurrected body is composed of.
August 8, 2015 at 9:04 am#801898kerwinParticipantt8,
I agree he was the Son of God before he was resurrected from the dead.
He I am not sure what you mean by he is Son of God in power but I believe he was declared in power to be the Son of God and he is the Son of God as of the Spirit as are those who follow him.
The as of the Spirit is contrasted with the as of the flesh.
Jesus teaches us that spirit is born of Spirit and flesh is born of flesh.
The Father of his flesh is David and so he fulfills the prophecy of the Anointed One in one way.
The Father of his spirit is God and so he fulfills the prophecy of the Anointed One in another way. - AuthorPosts
