Hi KW,
Salvation is the work of God from start to finish.

Nick,It starts with a believer believing all the Word of God even as Abraham did. It continues with a believer persevering in that belief. The perseverance is the last and continues forever.

Indeed knowledge is one of the spiritual gifts we should seek[2 peter 1.5]But FIRST we need to seek the kingdom.[mt6.33]

Nick,Belief is required before one can be immersed.

Nick,That is true.
April 26, 2012 at 9:18 pm#295179NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Simon Magus had enough faith to be immersed.
Thence he had to submit his mind for spiritual renewal.
But his mind was not submitted and he wanted to BUY the Spirit. His heart was not right before God.
Baptism is not magic and begins a journey of submission.Acts 8
April 26, 2012 at 9:48 pm#295183kerwinParticipantNick,
According to Scripture you do miraculously receive the new man that loves as God loves when immersed in Jesus. After that you either put on the new man dressed in white or the old man dressed in filthy rags. You can only put on the new man by faith. By his actions Simon Magus revealed he lacked faith and so was like an unwise virgin.

He had been clothed with Christ Jesus [gal 3.27]but Christ had yet to be born into him.

Nick,You are correct that Paul is truly in birth pains til those he taught, while carried along by the Spirit of God, became fully mature in Christ through their faith made perfect; even as it is written:
Galatians 4:19
King James Version (KJV)19My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
Christ is the pattern of the new man.

Nick,The Spirit is the gift of the new covenant that is sealed with Jesus' blood. Only those immersed by his authority enter therein. That authority was not given to John the Baptist.
April 29, 2012 at 8:32 pm#295605NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
The baptism of John was to prepare the way. It ploughed the land [jer 4.3]and made it ready for planting of the seed [lk8.5f]. It cleansed the hearts and made it possible for the Word of God to be received.[lk 7.29-30]May 11, 2012 at 9:40 pm#297554Ed JParticipantQuote (Ed J @ April 09 2012,12:30) Hi Nick, So we can have a cohesive dialog, it therefore becomes necessary
to know what “exactly” we are discussing. Defining the terms…Reincarnation: The belief that the soul, upon death of the body,
comes back to earth in another body or form.Preexistence: To exist in spirit form before becoming incarnated as a human.
I therefore need to know what you are calling 'an Evil Angel',
so I can be clear as to what YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.God bless

http://www.holycitybiblecode.orgMay 11, 2012 at 9:55 pm#297556Ed JParticipantHi Nick,
We are seeking clarity
of God's word, are we not?
Assumptions lead to confusion.Where there are disagreements,
there cannot be assumptions.
(See the free-will thread)The terms must be clearly understood!
I avoid arguing over assumptions.
See the “For Jammin” thread.God bless
