Recipe for Thanksgiving

    I thought I would give out this wonderful cake.
       PRALINE PUMPKIN TORTE
      3/4 CUP PACKED BROWN SUGAR
      1/3 CUP BUTTER ( NO SUBSTITUTE)
      3 TABLESPOONS WHIPPED CREAM
      3/4 CUP CHOPPED PECANS
    TO MAKE IT EXTRA GOOD DOUBLE THE ABOVE
    CAKE
       4 EGGS
       1-2/3 CUPS OF SUGAR
       1 CUP OF VEGETABLE OIL
       2 CUPS OF COOKED OR CANNED PUMPKIN
       1/4 TEASPOON VANILLA EXTRACT
       2 CUPS OF ALL PURPOSE FLOWER
       2 TEASPOONS BAKING SODA
       1 TEASPOON SALT

     TOPPING:
        1 3/4 CUPS WHIPPED CREAM
         1/4 CUP CONFECTIONERS SUGAR
         1/4 TEASPOON VANILLA EXTRACT
         ADDITIONAL CHOPPED PECANS

    In a heavy saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter and cream.
    Cook and stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
    Poor into two well greased 9 inch round baking pans. Sprinkle with pecans; cool.
    In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, sugar and oil. Add pumpkin and vanilla.
    Combine dry ingredients; add to the pumpkin mixture and beat just until blended.
    Carefully spoon over brown sugar mixture
    Bake at 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
    Cool for 5 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
    Place one cake layer, praline side up, on a serving plate.
    In a mixing bowl, beat cream until soft peaks form. Beat in Vanilla and sugar. Spread two-thirds over cake. Top with second layer and add remaining whipped cream.
    Sprinkle with additional pecans if desired.
    Sore in the refrigerator YIELD 12-14 servings. ENJOY

    Boy's 1/2 a piece of cake is not going to kill. It's Thanksgiving. So here is your Menu.
    Turkey with stuffing
    Sweet Potatoes
    cranberry Sauce
    Mashed Potatoes with Turkey ansd Gravy
    Fried Cauliflower in Butter, nice and brown
    Red Cabbage
    corn for the small children
    Grant Biscuits
    corn bread

    Dessert Praline Pumpkin Cake

    After eating take a nap.

    I wonder if this would be better with a cream cheese type frosting like you find on carrot cake?

    Can we use HEAVY CREAM instead of whipping cream? How about a stick of butter in there somewhere? :laugh:

    Usually I host Thanksgiving but because of our addition, I am passing the torch to my neice who is newly married. It will be her first Turkey (oh goodness…..). I'm really excited to pass on some traditions…..

    Hey Guy's You can muster it up, however you want to. The Base has plenty of butter since I double it. On top the Vegetable Oil. I guess you could change that to butter if you want, never tried it tho.

    :) there is  NO SUBSTITUTE for BUTTER, I can always tell the difference
