Quote NH Who said superman. Are we not supposed to do the works that he did through the Spirit.
The difference is that Jesus is the Lord from heaven.
Can we go around forgiving sins? No.
Can we go around recieveing worship? No
Can we claim to raise ourselves from the dead? No
Can we claim to be the Bread of life? No
Can we claim to be the Ressurection and the Lfe? No
Can we claim to be the Door? No
Can we claim to the way the truth and the life? No
Can we call all men to come to us and we would give them rest? No
Can we claim to be the “Good Shephard” ? No
Could go on about this wonderful Jesus that we serve. But hope you get my point.
Jesus was man. But only God could make the above claims.
Jn 20:
24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.[/B]Things that Jesus did!
Men hated Jesus because of his claim to Jesus, and they still get upset when anyone sees it like Thomas did today!

So Christ is a deity.
Funny because Colossians says the fullness of deity was IN HIM not as him.
So he did not need to be anointed with the Holy Spirit and power as Acts 10 say as he already had his own and all his claims of being dependant on the Father in all things were fallacious??January 20, 2007 at 6:29 pm#37862NickHassanParticipantHi W,
Where did Jesus claim to be God?
NOWHERE
He claimed to be the Son of God but never claimed to be God.
Men hated him because he represented God and revealed God and they hate God.January 22, 2007 at 4:52 am#38021Worshipping JesusParticipantQuote Hi W,

Men hated him because they believed he was saying he was equal to God.

that may be so, however, they still realized he was claiming to be the son of God and not actually God.January 22, 2007 at 4:24 pm#38049Worshipping JesusParticipantQuote that may be so, however, they still realized he was claiming to be the son of God and not actually God. MS
To the Jews Son of God meant the same thing.
Think about it, to be equal to YHWH?
This is why they wanted to stone him!
Jn 10:
30 I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, **makest thyself God.**It amazes me how the apposers of Jesus being God, One with the Father, use these passages to say that trinitarians alighn themselves with the Jews.
When in reality they understood Jesus to say that he was God and was apposed to him being God.
If John the writer of these words would not have been a trinitarian, dont you think he would have either not recorded these words or disputed the claim that Jesus was God?
The question is to the Apposers.
Do you alighn yourself with the Jews who understood Jesus to making claim of being equal to God or God himself, but said this is Blasphemy and would have stoned him?
Jesus never disputed their words.
January 22, 2007 at 5:56 pm#38053NickHassanParticipantHi W,
Not disputing words is not the same as making those same claims himself.
What he did say is that he is the Son of God.
Why is that not enough for you?January 22, 2007 at 6:07 pm#38055Worshipping JesusParticipantQuote Hi W,

Because the scriptures teach he is God, One with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
So do you alighn yourself with the Jews who understood Jesus to make this claim, but would have stoned him because to them he said he was God?

Did I say Jesus was the Father.
There you go again misrepresentation.

Ask the Jews. For like you they didnt believe him!
January 22, 2007 at 7:48 pm#38073NickHassanParticipantHi W,
Jesus explained who God is.
He said the Father was their God [jn 8.54].
So where did you get the idea the son of God was God Himself?January 22, 2007 at 7:50 pm#38076Worshipping JesusParticipantQuote Hi W,

Again,
Ask the Jews, for they were there and understood Jesus words more than you.

Do you mean the accusers who wanted to stone him?
I prefer his own words to theirs .
Perhaps you should too?January 22, 2007 at 8:15 pm#38081Worshipping JesusParticipantQuote Hi W,

As I said you agree with the Jews that wanted to stone him for claiming to be equal to God or God, they didnt believe his words.
January 22, 2007 at 8:17 pm#38082NickHassanParticipantHi W,
Natural men have always been deceived about all sorts of things including even thinking Jesus claimed to be God. But reborn men like yourself should not be aligning with their ignorance surely?I know what we should do.
We should see if he claimed to be God and go from there.
But he didn't, claiming instead to be God's son.I think we should rather believe him.
January 22, 2007 at 8:20 pm#38083NickHassanParticipantHi W,

Jesus did not refute their words but you agree with them that Jesus claim is Blasphemous!
Why do you not see this?
