    I'd like for us to take a look at this Psalm. I believe that there is a wealth of information that we may have missed.

    Let's start by posting the Psalm and then looking at it on a line by line basis:

    Quote
    Psalms Chapter 110
    א לְדָוִד, מִזְמוֹר:
    נְאֻם יְהוָה, לַאדֹנִי–שֵׁב לִימִינִי; עַד-אָשִׁית אֹיְבֶיךָ, הֲדֹם לְרַגְלֶיךָ. 1 A Psalm of David. {N}
    The LORD saith unto my lord: 'Sit thou at My right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.'

    ב מַטֵּה-עֻזְּךָ–יִשְׁלַח יְהוָה, מִצִּיּוֹן; רְדֵה, בְּקֶרֶב אֹיְבֶיךָ. 2 The rod of Thy strength the LORD will send out of Zion: 'Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.'

    ג עַמְּךָ נְדָבֹת, בְּיוֹם חֵילֶךָ:
    בְּהַדְרֵי-קֹדֶשׁ, מֵרֶחֶם מִשְׁחָר; לְךָ, טַל יַלְדֻתֶיךָ. 3 Thy people offer themselves willingly in the day of thy warfare; {N}
    in adornments of holiness, from the womb of the dawn, thine is the dew of thy youth.

    ד נִשְׁבַּע יְהוָה, וְלֹא יִנָּחֵם– אַתָּה-כֹהֵן לְעוֹלָם;
    עַל-דִּבְרָתִי, מַלְכִּי-צֶדֶק. 4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent: 'Thou art a priest for ever {N}
    after the manner of Melchizedek.'

    ה אֲדֹנָי עַל-יְמִינְךָ; מָחַץ בְּיוֹם-אַפּוֹ מְלָכִים. 5 The Lord at thy right hand doth crush kings in the day of His wrath.

    ו יָדִין בַּגּוֹיִם, מָלֵא גְוִיּוֹת; מָחַץ רֹאשׁ, עַל-אֶרֶץ רַבָּה. 6 He will judge among the nations; He filleth it with dead bodies, He crusheth the head over a wide land.

    ז מִנַּחַל, בַּדֶּרֶךְ יִשְׁתֶּה; עַל-כֵּן, יָרִים רֹאשׁ. 7 He will drink of the brook in the way; therefore will he lift up the head. {P}

    Verse 1 states:

    Quote
    לְדָוִד, מִזְמוֹר:
    נְאֻם יְהוָה, לַאדֹנִי–שֵׁב לִימִינִי; עַד-אָשִׁית אֹיְבֶיךָ, הֲדֹם לְרַגְלֶיךָ. 1 A Psalm of David. {N}
    The LORD saith unto my lord: 'Sit thou at My right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.'

    David said that “The LORD” said unto his Lord… Who was David calling his Lord? Would he be calling someone that is born of his sperm his Lord? I believe not, therefore, this speaks of someone who is born of God. Jesus who the NT says was conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of a virgin?

    Below is what Jesus said:

    Quote
    41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. 43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, 44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? 45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? 46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

    If God spoke to David's Lord telling him to sit at His right hand, and God's throne is in heaven then this speaks of someone who has been exalted to this position. The resurrection from the dead?

    Quote
    Hebrews 1

    1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

    Verse 1 also tells us how long David's Lord will be at God's right hand:

    Quote
    'Sit thou at My right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool

    Verse 2 states:

    Quote
    מַטֵּה-עֻזְּך&#1464
    ;–יִשְׁלַח יְהוָה, מִצִּיּוֹן; רְדֵה, בְּקֶרֶב אֹיְבֶיךָ. 2 The rod of Thy strength the LORD will send out of Zion: 'Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.'

    This verse indicates that God has made David's Lord ruler over God's people in the midst of his enemies who are on earth. And so, this speaks to David's Lord being King in Zion.

    Verse 3 states:

    Quote
    עַמְּךָ נְדָבֹת, בְּיוֹם חֵילֶךָ:
    בְּהַדְרֵי-קֹדֶשׁ, מֵרֶחֶם מִשְׁחָר; לְךָ, טַל יַלְדֻתֶיךָ. 3 Thy people offer themselves willingly in the day of thy warfare; {N}
    in adornments of holiness, from the womb of the dawn, thine is the dew of thy youth.

    This verse indicates that people will willingly serve him in the beauty of holiness in the days of his authority.

    Verse 4 states:

    Quote
    נִשְׁבַּע יְהוָה, וְלֹא יִנָּחֵם– אַתָּה-כֹהֵן לְעוֹלָם;
    עַל-דִּבְרָתִי, מַלְכִּי-צֶדֶק. 4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent: 'Thou art a priest for ever {N}
    after the manner of Melchizedek.'

    This verse indicates another role other that of ruler which we discussed previously and that is the appointment of David's Lord by God to the role of a priest after the manner of Melchizedek.

    The appointment to the role of a priest is for ever which indicates eternal life if this role is to be for ever. This also would indicate that this priesthood is unlike the Levitical priesthood which those in the role priesthood cannot continue eternally because of death.

    The Jews were expecting a warrior like David who would restore the Kingdom back to Israel, but the following verses indate that the Lord will crush kings in the days of God's wrath, but it says nothing to indicate that the literal sword is used in crushing the kings. And finally, this shows that David's Lord will judge among nations.

    Quote
    ה אֲדֹנָי עַל-יְמִינְךָ; מָחַץ בְּיוֹם-אַפּוֹ מְלָכִים. 5 The Lord at thy right hand doth crush kings in the day of His wrath.

    ו יָדִין בַּגּוֹיִם, מָלֵא גְוִיּוֹת; מָחַץ רֹאשׁ, עַל-אֶרֶץ רַבָּה. 6 He will judge among the nations; He filleth it with dead bodies, He crusheth the head over a wide land.

    ז מִנַּחַל, בַּדֶּרֶךְ יִשְׁתֶּה; עַל-כֵּן, יָרִים רֹאשׁ. 7 He will drink of the brook in the way; therefore will he lift up the head. {P}

    Hi 94,
    Similar to Ps 2

    The Word was the root of David.
    The Spirit of Christ manifested in the prophets[1 peter 1]
