they walked no longer with him when he spoke beyond their grasp
fear drove them back to intellect when their comfort zone was passed
fear still motivates the brothers who will not be spirit led, doubting scripture
is alive, still as fresh as when was writ, assimilate the food let it speak through you.

though a painful fact to grasp we are children of our past
nothing really has not affected us through all the years
damaged, wounded, torn apart, altered by life experience
once bitten twice shy, tears lead quickly to our fears
slowly follows human heart, where the head so bravely leads
so we quarantine the risks, never trust again our peers
yet the way of Christ demands our faith in a body one
or should we be overcome, to this temptation succumb
or like Peter, having felt the sharpened sword of Paul,
not bearing grudges but acknowledging deeper wisdom,
there are words given him we cannot yet understand,
but he's a brother servant too, listen to and love him

the favourite religion of the west, democracy, now worshiped in reverent tones
for the oppression of the poor and ignorant, enables those who know the ropes
to further boost their power base and give an excuse for taking home all their oil

summer breezes warm the land drying up the winter tears
and the grasses bravely spring from the warming sods of earth
just like men they stand up tall, exulting bright, without a care,
living loving lazing in the blessed light, til the parching desert air
or the cutting scythe, beware, removes their source of life
and to the unforgiving ground they quickly fall and fade,
none remembered, all forgot, that's it folks, you've had your lot,
opportunities no longer there, maybe you have grasped the key
the carpenter of nazareth passed your way….did you see?

in the religion of man there thrives home made beliefs, compromise
isolation can't be borne so satisfy expectations, and so suborn
the need to cling to truth itself, to the need for company, never walk
alone but in a group, where unity is confined, then offered as proof
of faithfulness, but is it rather insecurity, should the love of man
surmount the love of God, should teachers be allowed to usurp
the role of the master in his church and their teachings be upheld
alongside the Word of God as well…did he not say as much?

they struggle day and night to enter the walls of jerusalem
the trojan horse of falsity must get past the sentry's eyes
with a thousand lies hiding, in what could be seen as right
to establish a base within and destroy the heart of truth

The artist is a receptacle for the emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

“Build a man a fire and he stays warm for one night. Set a man on fire and he stays warm for the rest of his life.”

(I thought those that believe in hellfire might like that one.)

We are no other than a moving row
Of magic shadow-shapes that come and go
Round with the sun-illumined lantern held
In midnight by the Master of the Show
    –William I believe.
