The motion turns and rumbles through the brain,
Engulfing envy and discontent,
Engulfing petty feelings that bear confusion.
A Wave that torments darkness forcing it into flight,
His will is purity no devil can hold Him back.A movement rumbles through the body
Changing every day life into a brick,
A groove that leeds you into a circle.
This Wave changes all,
Taking all out and putting everything in,
He is Life with no disguise.Lineon

July 4, 2008 at 8:08 am#211163charityParticipantunderstanding a poet, let/alone game enough to dwell with one?
good cheer.. LineonPhillip Larkin
Born in the early nineteen twenties and in the mid nineteen eighties he passed away
A poetic legend in his lifetime and his legend lives today
Phillip Larkin the hero of many a Literary Don
The poet is at peace but his verse living on.Phillip Larkin from Coventry few greater than he
Though some with that assumption may well not agree
Some say in some of his poems he used words that were rude
But then every poet is a creature of mood. For Nature Poet Larkin showed his empathy
For the hedgehog who died under his grass mower his words of sympathy
Will live on for centuries in honour of his name
One who loved Nature as he did well worthy of fame.A Natural Wordsmith and his type are rare
And few poets with Phillip Larkin can hope to compare
In his lifetime celebrated and very well known
And in his brand of verse in a class of his own.The fans of Larkin's poetry as fans do remain
And his verses they visit again and again
And though some of his poems some may find a bit rude
From the Literary Hall of Fame he's one they can't exclude.Francis Duggan

John Hagee, George Bush and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad begin the list. July 5, 2008 at 11:15 am#211175charityParticipantDevelop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature,
music–the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures,
beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself.~ Henry Miller
The empty mind – the pure mind – is not a blank, zero-land, where
you're not feeling or caring about anything. It's an effulgence of the
mind. It's a brightness that is truly sensitive and accepting. It's an ability
to accept life as it is. When we accept life as it is, we can respond
appropriately to the way we're experiencing it, rather than just reacting
out of fear and aversion.~Ajahn Sumedho

OK. Would you like to name lineon's dogs of war then?Perhaps we could make the question a more practical one. Who should we be worried about for our own long-term security and survival? Has W made the world more or less secure? Does John Hagee promote peace and global security? Do you think Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would like to sit down to tea with the Israeli Prime Minister?
In each case, as you say, there is religious zealotry behind it. Tell me who Dawkins or Sam Harris want to bomb. Tell me who Jesus would bomb! I would strongly suggest that after the effects of climate change and religious zealotry (including bombing things and people) there is not much else posing a serious threat. Of course Dawkins et al are a threat to religious ideologies but they don't actually want to see anyone die or suffer revenge at the hands of the righteous.
Christianity and Islam are very recent ideologies, each only 2000 years old. That is 1% of human history. While they claim to be responsible for civilisation, so much of what is written in their immutable holy books is anti-civilisation. They ignore the ancient Greek and (to some extent) Roman contributions to our current state, however you may see it.
Maybe I should call Hagee a dog-of-war-wannabe. He has the ear of the unquestionably warmongering W. That is enough to be sending chills down the spine.
As long as people can see the difference between fantasy and humanity we will be OK. People who believe in the Koran and Revelation cannot make that distinction, and no attention should be given to them.
