Hello All,
The message of Philippians 2 is that those in the fellowship of the Spirit needed to be like minded with the Anointed Jesus. Those who were given of the Spirit appointed to be apostles, prophets, healers, needed to not seek vain glory as they set out to do God’s work.
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, 2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men
This is NOT a pre-exisitng son’s thoughts before he came down to earth, these are the thoughts of the Anointed Jesus on earth, who left the river Jordan having been filled with the Spirit and all the powers therein.
When he was sent to do God’s work, upon having the Spirit boding upon him, AN ANOINTING, he made himself of no reputation, his thoughts and words were that he could do nothing of himself. He did not seek any vainglory, but was a humble servant.
Though he being in the form of God having the fullness of the Spirit not able to sin, he was in the likeness of all men as he was still able to be tempted like all men.
April 29, 2020 at 4:05 am#863487GeneBalthropParticipantJodi……you are right , Jesus could have used those gifts from God to rob God of Glory, easely, because the invisible God, the Father was doing all his works through the “man” Jesus. He could have simply allowed the people to attribute those works to him, and steal the Glory that belonged to God the Father. Jesus was always acutely aware of that, and clearly expressed it, “the son of man can do “nothing” of himself”.
Another man , MOSES forgot that at the water of Mierba, and stole the GLORY that belonged to God alone, and was punished for it, God did not allow him to enter into the promised land, because of that. JESUS never took that for grantedm he always know it God the Father doing those works, not him.
Peace and love to you and yours. ………gene

Who, being in the form of God, …
Jesus was in the form of God
God the Father is a PERSON WITH A FORM and His only begotten Son was a divine PERSON WITH A FORM, A FORM OF GOD
HEBREWS 1 SAY THAT Who being the brightness of his glory,(God’s glory)and the express image of his PERSON, …
…thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
this expresses that the Son of GOD living in the form of God, did not regard his equality with God the Father as a prey to be seized …
He did not want to demonstrate outside his equality with God (unlike Satan who, in his madness wanted to equal himself with God;)…But made “himself” of no reputation,…
Litt: He divested himself, emptied (of all the privileges pertaining to his divine existence, but not of his nature) In particular, he stripped himself of the heavenly glory (John 17: 5: “with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”
…and took upon HIM the form of a servant…
He took the form of a servant…
… and was made in the likeness of MEN:
…And the Word was made flesh…
This is why Christ, coming into the world, said: You did not want sacrifice or offering, But you formed me a body; (Hebrews 10:5)
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.(1Timothy 3:16)
To follow if God wants…
April 29, 2020 at 5:28 am#863491BereanParticipantAnd being found in fashion as a man,(first step)
second step:
he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
The first phrase here completes the thought begun in verse 7: that Jesus came to earth in human form as a servant. In addition, Jesus both was born and died in humility. His humbleness was not for show, but was part of being “obedient.” In a similar way, Paul encouraged his readers to be humble in obedience to Christ, following both the example of Jesus and of Paul.
The last phrase of this verse refers to the horrific death of crucifixion. The cross was clearly a symbol of death in first century culture. Paul’s mention of it here reminds us that the cross was more than a painful death. It was also a degrading, humiliating form of execution. Jesus did not die as a hero on a battlefield, but instead died innocently and shamefully in public view outside the city walls of Jerusalem. He was mocked, yet endured scorn as part of God’s plan for His life as a sacrifice for sinners.

Jesus had the power to do all things, but to be the savior of the world, it had been decided between him and the Father, that he would do only the will of his Father.
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.(John 5:30)In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
[7] Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.(Hebrews 10:6,7)Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.(Hebrews 1:9)
April 29, 2020 at 5:58 am#863494LightenupParticipantBerean, great job on your posting.
The only begotten Son has always been loving the sons of man from their beginning back in Genesis. He loved man so much that he willing came to lay down his life for mankind in order to redeem them. Greater love has no man than the love of the Father and the Son. We can only imagine.
Blessings, LU
April 29, 2020 at 8:16 am#863498GeneBalthropParticipantBerean….Where does “any scripture say that, thats the problem here, you people constantly add your thoughts to our text to try to fit in your false conclusions. Now your even denying what Jesus said, by try to make it out that Jesus could do “anything” himself but only a certain thing he couldn’t do, but Jesus never said that, nor any other scripture does either. Why can’t you ppeople take what Jesus said like he said it, when he said he could do “nothing” of himself, he actually meant it. Jesus himself never healed a single person , nor did any of the apostles either, it was God the Father who did it for them, to show he was with them.
Berean your starting to do what CARMEL AND LU and others do, just ramble all over the place never focusing on a simple single issue. I gave you a simple scripture it is self explanatory let’s deal with it first ok. Please.

Hi Jodi,What do you say Philippians 2:6 means?

Christ Jesus is in the form of God, God is light and He forms the light. Righteousness is righteousness.
Jesus didn’t see his anointing as stealing the Spirit from God. Jesus didn’t think that him being for a light meant he took light away from God.
The beginning of Philippians 2 is about FELLOWSHIP in the Spirit, joint-united as ONE in the Spirit.
Equality, equivalence, likeness through the Spirit dwelling within.
Jesus didn’t see himself as robbing from God but being of the same qualities/attributes of God.
equal – Isos, equal, in quantity or quality
equal, agree together
Jesus received the full measure of the Spirit, he had all the quantity and it was of equal quality.
That which is righteous is righteous.
Phil 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
May 1, 2020 at 7:19 am#863554JodiParticipantHi All,
Jesus who was anointed with the Spirit is he who is in the form of God.
John 10:30 I and my Father are one. 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them,Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
John 12:43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. 44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. 45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. 46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Isaiah 42;6-8 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
May 1, 2020 at 7:47 am#863555JodiParticipantHi Berean,
Prophecy, FIRST you have the son of Jesse, THEN YHWH rests his Spirit upon him, calls him to righteousness for him to be SENT out into the world for to be a LIGHT, in order to set us at liberty.
Such is God’s WORD MADE TRUE IN THE FLESH OF JESUS, where Jesus exists in the form of God.
John 12:43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. 44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. 45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. 46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
combine with,
1 Tim 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Manifest, to make known! Jesus received the Spirit not by measure TO PREACH God’s word, to do God’s work, TO MAKE GOD KNOWN to the world
The mystery of godliness is not a man trying of himself to obey God’s commandments, the flesh profits nothing, it is the Spirit that brings life. Godliness is by God being ALL IN you, where you are justified in the Spirit, and those that are led by the Spirit are the Sons of God.
Berean, WHY DID JESUS CRY?
TRUE BELIEVERS BELIEVE NOT ON Jesus of Nazareth, but BELIEVE in God who sent Jesus, beginning his ministry in Galilee, so that we could believe in God.
Jesus could do nothing of himself it was all to the glory of God where God’s Spirit was a witness to Jesus’s spirit that he was a child of God.

As said, which you seem to want to continue to deny,
YHWH’s word was there would be a son of Jesse and then YHWH would anoint him and SEND him for the purpose to set us free. There is no scripture that says God himself needed to come down and become a man to save us.
YOU WANT TO REWRITE YHWH’S plan that He had before the world was, of which He revealed to Isaiah.
Philippians 2 is speaking about the Anointed Jesus and his thoughts, it directly tells you that is whose thoughts are being talked about, NOT God’s thoughts, Jesus the Anointed on earth’s thoughts.
Berean, not only is your denial of prophecy a problem you have 2 other problems which you have not explained so I hope you can.
We are suppose to be like minded with God who chose to be a man? Really, that is Paul’s message?
Paul is telling us that God in heaven needed to think about himself being in the form of himself and not seeing it as robbery to be equal to himself? Really?
Or what, God in heaven needed to think about the other God in heaven and how he was in that other God’s form, and think that he was not robbing the other God but was equal to the other God?
Why would God be thinking upon such things if he were actually God, it doesn’t add up, it’s ridiculous is what it is. Likewise, Paul asking those in fellowship of the Spirit to be like minded with this God doesn’t add up, it’s ridiculous.
Imagine those who were anointed as healers, and found themselves able to raise the dead even, trying to make sure they were like minded with Jesus doing all things not for their own glory and for the good of their brethren.
Imagine what it would have been like to be in Jesus of Nazareth’s shoes. All of a sudden the Spirit of God comes to dwell upon him in fullness with all the powers thereof. He finds himself able to be tempted but then God is always there with him holding his hand and keeping him for to be a light so to fulfill God’s covenant.
The anointed Jesus had every right to think on his form, which is exactly what he did when he was tested in the wilderness and then tested at the cross!!
In his new form God sent him into the wilderness to be tested prior to his sending. He most certainly saw himself in the likeness of man as he hungered. He also saw himself equal to God in that he had powers to make bread from stones. He could have used those powers of God for himself, but he stayed true to God’s will humbling himself and being a servant, with love for his brethren.
In him being of the form of God he most certainly saw himself in the likeness of man when he was mocked, beaten, and nailed to the cross along side other men, where he along with them were seen as sinners. He in the form of God could have saved himself, but he humbled himself and remained a servant, with love for his brethren.
Those who were sent out as apostles, prophets and healers were going to also be persecuted, and they needed to be of like mind with the Anointed Jesus, remaining servants unto their deaths, where Jesus promised them the crown of life if they remained faithful through their tribulation.
This is the profound message that I take away when I read Philippians 2, I think of Jesus’s thoughts when he was in the wilderness and going to the cross to his death, how he was humbled and was a perfect servant, though he was in the form of God and could have served himself.
You butcher Philippians 2 Berean.
May 1, 2020 at 11:32 am#863564JodiParticipantHi Berean,
YOU:JESUS HAD THE POWER TO DO ALL THINGS, BUT TO BE THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, IT HAD BEEN DECIDED BETWEEN HIM AND THE FATHER, THAT HE WOULD DO ONLY THE WILL OF HIS FATHER.
ME:
Yah, you sound like your in complete denial of God’s word.
Jesus receives the Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Council and Might, Knowledge and Fear of the LORD. He is called to righteousness where God directs ALL his ways. His anointing of the Spirit is so that he can be SENT TO PREACH, HEAL, DELIVER CAPTIVES. He is the man ordained of God to judge not by his own eyes and hears.
The prophecies of Isaiah are not all completed, and it IS A HUMAN ANOINTED WITH YHWH’S SPIRIT WHO COMPLETES THEM AT THE COMMANDS OF YHWH.
This human had died and was raised receiving the PROMISED HOLY SPIRIT, he is the son of David begotten by God on the day he was raised becoming the firstborn of the dead.
EACH HUMAN Berean is raised in an order and Christ is that first human.
Also as was promised unto the man, is that he would receive dominion over ALL the works YHWH had made, thus why were are told concerning the man who shed his blood, that all things were made by reason of and for him.
May 1, 2020 at 11:46 am#863565JodiParticipantHi Berean,
John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
Jesus definitely makes it clear in the above he is NOT GOD Berean.
He also makes it very clear as WHO he IS!!
WHOM DID the WORD of GOD COME TO and THEN was SENT Berean?
Recall the Spirit came upon Jesus, an anointing where he was SENT to PREACH. Recall that he received the Spirit not by measure to speak the words of God. Recall that YHWH had promised that He would raise up a prophet from AMONG BRETHREN and YHWH would put HIS WORDS into this prophets mouth, and those who did not believe in this prophet would be destroyed.
God the Father needed to sanctify God the Son, before God the Son was sent? NO!
sanctify – purify, dedicate to God
Jesus was baptized, purified, dedicated to God where God called him to righteousness through His anointing Spirit, where by He would direct all his ways. THEN Jesus was sent out into the world being a Son of God.
Hebrews 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore god, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Jesus was raised from the dead receiving the promised Holy Spirit, where he was begotten by God and given a firstborn’s inheritance, he was made a king of kings and a lord of lords.

Our positions regarding who Jesus is are irreconcilable.
You will realize in the near future (if God gives you life) that your consideration of who Jesus is is wrong.
