    Mark 4: 26-29

    Casting Seed

26 And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, 27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. 28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. 29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

    * The Kingdom of God is the government of divine love and wisdom in the minds and lives of angels and of men; for wherever such government prevails, there the Almighty rules as in His own kingdom, and, consequently, there is the Kingdom of God. This kingdom is like a man who casts seed into the ground, because the seed, here spoken of, is the Word of God; and the ground into which the seed is cast is the human understanding; and when the Word of God is received and exalted in the human understanding, it introduces and establishes, by degrees, in the human mind and life the government of the Divine Love and Wisdom, which is the Kingdom of God.

    Hi ACC,
I do not think the gospel grows in us BECAUSE we understand it.
We receive it because our hearts know that it is the truth of God
And our minds must be submitted and enlarged to receive that truth.

    Acertainchap;

Nicely done. The scriptures say that Jesus spoke to them in parables and expounded on them as they were able to receive it. Paul said I pray that eyes of your understanding would be enlightened. It's here a little and there a little. The whole word is necessary for spiritual growth.

The book of Hebrews is considered to be a very meaty book, but Paul says in Hebrews that he couldn't explain many truths to them because they were dull of hearing and could not handle the meat of the word of God.

This is why it is so important to have the fundamentals correct- so you can grow. If the fundamentals of the principles of Christ are misunderstood, true spiritual growth is impossible. However, this may explain why so much truth is lacking in the church.

    Take care

    Hi 94,
    You said in another thread
” You seem to beleive you can choose between litteral, symbolic, and prophetic language and assign it correctly each and every time. Do you think that is possible? “

Parables are shown as such by Jesus.
There are visions and manifestations but they are clear.
We should surely only find symbolism when the literal is not possible.

    Context matters too.
I doubt you can find much that is symbolic in Acts while Revelation is another story entirely

    Hi,
    Jesus spoke often in parables.
Scripture identifies which teachings are parables
That does not give us the right to assume much of the rest of scripture is allegorical.

Nick……Thanks……The parable of the unjust Judge is probably one of the gratest parables, IMO, because is show a very inportant thing regarding (FAITH).

Luk 18:2….> There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man ..3..> And there was a widow in that city, and she came unto him, saying Avenge me of mine adversary. ..4..> And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, though I fear not God, nor regard man; ..5..> Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me..6..> And the Lord said Hear what the (UNJUST JUDGE) said..7..> And Shall not GOD (who is a just judge) avenge his own elect which cry day and night unto him, (though)(mistranslated word it should be (WILL) he bear long with them,?  Another words will a just GOD be like the unjust judge, will he put you off. ..8..> I tell you he will avenge (hiis own elect), them (SPEEDILY). NEVERTHELESS when the Son of Man comes, will he find (FAITH) on the earth?

This parable say so much to us, It shows that GOD has answered prayers of his elect many times , but they forget about them and loose FAITH. Remember FAITH (IS) the (EVIDENCE) of things (NOT SEEN) , not one has seen God at anytime we are told, So how can we know He exists , it's by seeing his hand in our lives through answered prayers, and we should never let them slip from our memories.. GOD reveals himself not only through the creation and spoken words, but through direct involvement in our lives. It is good we go back and remember those times often when GOD revealed himself in our lives, lest we let them slip. IMO

    Hi,
So even those children whose only intent is revenge will be heard by their faithful God if they persist.

Nick……..Presitences has nothing to do with it, even thought it appears that way, you must remember GOD helps (SPEEDILY)  and is not like an (UNJUST JUDGE) , If you have not recieved your desire of vengeance it is because it is not in GOD'S Will and you might be wrong in seeking it.  The widow was seeking help in her situation that is all, it is unfortunate the term avenge is used it can also mean HELP ME. Remember we are told not to seek vengeance for GOD will repay. “vengeance is mine says the LORD, (I) will repay”. The parable starts out that men aught to always pray, and not to lose Hope, that is because  of the word (THOUGH HE BEAR LONG WITH THEM) IT SHOULD READ (WILL) HE BEAR LONG WITH THEM another words like the (UNJUST JUDGE DID). Nick look up the Greek there and you will find it is (WILL) not THOUGH, and some corrected editions bibles translate it (WILL).

I think this miss translated version is there because many of those translating it have never had any prayers answered , so to a-line with their lives they altered the text, to read that way, that is just my opinion thats all. But the original text had been altered. This parable is a very powerful parable because by it we can gage our lives and our relationship with GOD, it also shows us not to let those experience slip as some do and loose FAITH as a result. It is important we recount these experiences over and over in our lives when the FATHER has revealed Himself in our lives we can draw great courage from them.

Here is an example of what i am talking about , King David, was Just a lad when he stood up against Goliath.

1Sa 17:34…> And David said unto Saul, thy servant kept his fathers sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: 35..> And I went out after him and smote him and delivered it out of his mouth: an when he arose against me, i caught him by his beard, and smote him , and slew him. 36…> Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he defiles the armies of the living GOD. 37…> NOTICE THIS , David said moreover the LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, and the LORD be with YOU.

The point is the David drew from his PAST and it gave HIM FAITH and COURAGE to GO and fight Goliath. You see how our experience with GOD in the past preserves our FAITH and GIVES us COURAGE.  This is in my opinion the message  Jesus was trying to get across to us. Faith can not be built on suppositions but on hard evidence given to us by GOD and we must retain that evidence by recounting it often, never letting it slip. IMO

    G,
Surely it is about persistence in prayer.
Faith is not just about historical things but living reality today.

Nick………Those who recall the hand of the the Lord in there live should also be persistent in prayer, because they have a past to draw from of the LORDS hand in their lives. So in that sense we do persevere. You can not have (TRUE FAITH) without TRUE response of GOD in YOUR LIFE, people who operate without that proof are just operating on suppositions and do not have true reality. The very meaning of FAITH has been corrupted to mean an acceptance of what someone else says , without any tangible proof of their own.

    G,
Walking the way involves more than looking back to signposts because we miss what He is doing today.
It does involve increasing awareness of lack and the need to pray for grace unto all our revealed needs,

Nick……what have i said that differers from that?  My point was that Past experience with GOD, builds our FAITH, nothing more was being addressed. King David past experience with GOD helped Him in his present situations. FAITH can vary as the parable of the unjust Judge shows. That is the POINT>

    hi gene
wrong your past experience may be bad so it does not help you but destroy you ,the experience that helps is the one in doing Gods will and doing it willfully of your on free will because you love Him and the one He as Send his Son Jesus Christ, this is the living way

Terraricca……….I am talking about your past experience (WITH GOD) acting in your life, (NOT) just past experiences, your getting what i was saying confused. You have yet to produce (ONE) Scripture where the word (FREE WILL) is written. Your speaking from your own opinions , but not scripture . GO back and read the Parable of the Unjust Judge slowly and then read what was written about it.

Another Parable…….Mar 4:26…> And he said, SO (IS) kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; 27..> And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, (HE KNOWS NOT HOW). 28..> for the earth (THE HEART) brings forth fruit of herself; first the blade, (STARTS SLOW) then the ear, (BUT GROWS) after that the full corn (TO FULL MATURITY)in the ear. 29…> But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

Remember Jesus said the Kingdom of GOD would be within Us. GOD'S Word is the seed and when it is sown in our hearts (IT) begins to germinate and grow in us. This process we do not know how it works it just does because it is within the seed (words)that was sown in our hearts, it works in our intellects while we sleep and are awake, growing more and more till it starts producing fruits of the SPIRIT in our lives. IMO

    G,
The soil and the seed need water.
Stolen away or sown on hard ground it cannot grow.
The soil that DRINKS the rain and and produces useful fruit is blessed. [Heb6.7]

Terraricca………I am not drifting brother, when GOD'S words are sown into our Hearts , we (MEDITATE ON THEM AND EVEN WHEN WE ARE SLEEPING OUR SUB-CONSCIOUS MINDS ARE STILL THINKING AND AND MALLING THEM OVER. And being they are WORDS of LIFE they begin to effect our thinking little by little until they start producing action in our life (fruits of the spirit). These WORD of GOD (ARE) LIFE , you and I do not know (HOW) that is accomplished by the SPIRIT but it is. It is a CREATION Process and you and i are (NOT) CREATORS are we? WE are (SAVED) by the GRACE of (ONE) GOD ALONE> Through His SPIRIT (INTELLECT) given to US. IMO

NIck………It is GOD who supplies the Water and the seed for the earth to bring forth its produce. It is GOD who supplies the Spirit (water) which is the water that produces the fruit. From out of your bellies shall flow living waters. Those living waters are the WORDS of GOD. the Soil is the mind or heart. God also made those to. IMO

Nick you accuse me of using my own ” carnal reasoning” what do you call what you have just did, is that not YOUR) carnal intellect. Who is talking about magic, not me.

Nick your adversarial nature is quite distressing at time brother.
