Hi Ed,
Scripture rarely details the thoughts of men
September 11, 2014 at 3:17 pm#761865Ed JParticipantHi Everyone,
When the Apostle John says “our hands have handled of the Word of life” (ref. 1John 1:1), is he talking about…
1. Taking part in giving us “The Word” of God.
-or-
2. Touching JesusHi Nick,
Do you say 1 or 2?

YOU say they were “handling” Jesus?
September 11, 2014 at 4:39 pm#761919NickHassanParticipantHi ED,
Do you think handled does not mean touched, hugged, helped out of boats etc.
It happens.September 11, 2014 at 4:41 pm#761935Ed JParticipantFred: “How did the car handle?”
Nicole: “I touched it”

(2)the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.” (Rev 1:2)1) “The Word” of God
-and-
2) the testimony of Jesus ChristTwo different things Nick, not the same thing worded two different ways.

The quote was to show the use of the word HANDLE not to specify WHO touched him.

Hi Nick,
I appreciate the mental gymnastics one must go through to uphold incorrect doctrine.

This next verse says that the worlds were made *BY* “The Word”, not by things which do appear.
Meaning Jesus Christ could NOT BE “the word”, because Jesus did appear in this reality.
Please explain for me the mental gymnastics needed to get around this verse?”Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by “The Word” of God,
so that things which are seen were not made from things which do appear.” (Heb 11:3)___________

The Word was with God and the Word was God.
The Word created as the Spirit of God creates.
The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.
Since the Jordan the Word has been united with Jesus of Nazareth.
So now Jesus Christ is the Word .
We have handled the Word
Spiritual matters do not easily fit into human thought patterns

Do you define true doctrine?
By whose authority?

Can you not grasp it?
Jesus was not the Word.
Jesus Christ is now the Word.
