God ordained the scriptures and i believe all of them

I hope your not wearing a cotton and polyester shirt today.  Did you check your closet for forbidden clothing?

    Lev 19:19  19 ” 'Keep my decrees.
” 'Do not mate different kinds of animals.
” 'Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed.
” 'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.

I hope your haircut likewise is in accordance with scripture.

Lev 27 ” 'Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.

I am not trying to be sarcastic but want to point out that blanket statements like you made concerning scripture can sometimes seem a little ridiculous.  Leviticus is full of dubious rules.  When was the last time you sacrificed a ram?

Im not a nazarite cato thats the hair cut u speak of.

    WorshippingJesus,

    Let's cut to the chase.

This thread is entitled, 'Non believers'.  Are you here to discuss issues that might concern non-believers or not?  If so, do you understand that non-believers don't typically start out believing scripture cover to cover?

Again, here are your own words:

Maybe t8 should block this thread from believers because I do not belong here!

    Heed your own advice.

    WIT,
I think that you have just shut this thread down.

If you do not want a believer to discuss why he believes with
a non believer, then there is no subject for discussion.  :(

At least WorshippingJesus was attempting a dialogue, even if his only “proof” comes from the bible.

    Tim

    I disagree completely.

WorshippingJesus was not contributing anything to the general discussion other than:

“I believe because the bible says so, and the bible is true because I have faith in it.”

I think that he delivered that message multiple times, and it need not be reworded in yet another circular post.

Apologetics is about defending the faith to non-believers, which presumes that they don't automatically accept things just because they are in the bible.  By definition, if someone already believes that the bible is true, that person is already a believer.  It's simply a matter of degree.

If WorshippingJesus had anything to say other than “The bible is true because the bible says so”, then I would not have encouraged him to heed his own advice.

Also, it's interesting to note that he didn't object to discussing Stu's objections, even though Stu is outspoken about his lifelong disdain of scripture, but he has a problem discussing the specific issues that I raise even though I have likely studied the scripture as a believer as much as he has.  Wouldn't you think that he would have more compassion, and patience, with a “lost sheep” than with an unapologetic wolf?

Forgive the rant, but I am genuinely annoyed by what I perceive to be WorshippingJesus' hypocrisy.

If you are a non believer then what can I do to persuade you to go to church?

Try a simple demonstration of your faith.  Seemed to work well in the bible.  For reference, see 1 Kings 18:20-40.

How might a non-believer persuade you to give up on believing in talking snakes and men walking again after death?

    Stuart

    #138740

stu it would take nothing cause i even know of a story in the bible where a donkey talked

OK. Add that to the list. How might a non-believer in this stuff convince you to give up belief in talking snakes, talking donkeys, men walking again after they have been executed, unicorns, global floods that never happened, making men out of dirt that has been breathed into and women out of a man's rib, language evolution by the tower of babel model and the justice of killing Uzzah for steadying an ark?

Obviously physical evidence is not enough.

When you look at those stories they are all different, and can all be explained by local flooding, which is hardly rare.

Tell me what year you think the flood happened and I will show you that no global flood happened that year.

    No it didn't.

Since you cannot tell me when, I do not have to tell you why you are wrong. Not that I can't…

By this same logic one would believe also in vampires as most cultures have legends and stories surrounding them. How could they not be real?

While I am open to ideas about a possible antideluvian earth populated by humans it is insufficient to expect people to take as fact, a literal interpretation of same, based on a clearly religious work, ie. Genesis.

    #140094

I think there are vampires but not like the movies
