I KNOW SOME NON BELIEVERS, AND ID LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO GET THEM TO BE BELIEVERS.
I KNOW PART OF IT IS LIVING THE LIFE BEFORE THEM, AND TALKING TO THEM ABOUT THE LORD, AND INVITING THEM TO CHURCH WHAT ELS MY FRIENDS?
July 3, 2009 at 4:36 pm#135890kejonnParticipantYou could start by not posting so many messages in “All caps”.
On second thought, that won't work, but it will allow people to take your posts more seriously.
July 3, 2009 at 4:40 pm#135893seekingtruthParticipantMy opinion is that nothing talks louder then how we live our lives and respond to both blessings and trials. And most importantly the love we show to them.

thank yo living the life would help.July 3, 2009 at 4:53 pm#135901Not3in1ParticipantHmmm, I've considered this a bit. I've been a swinger over the past few years (not that kind of swinger ). But I've gone from belief to disbelief. I can tell you that my friends who are Christians – the ones who have touched me the most – are the ones who don't judge my journey. They are mature enough in the Lord to know we all come back around at some point in our lives. Train a child in the way he should go…….
If you want someone to love the Lord, Paul tells us to make the gospel ATTRACTIVE! How do you do that? Well, for starter's, get rid of all your preconceived notions about how a Christian “should” live. That is not for us to judge (although many a Christian fill their days making these judgement calls on their brother's and sister's). Just love them, and let Jesus guide them. This works best.
SHINE YOUR LIGHT! And they will follow…….

Marty and Mandy! I really agree with you. Even though sometimes it is hard to say nothing about what is a wrong doctrine, like the trinity for instant. One of our Son's and 3 Grandson's believe in a trinity and at times we have done more harm then good. We all have to learn to be patient with each other, and to keep our Mouth as close as we can. I love them all and they know that. So now I do not touch on that subject at all.

Stu, spare me!“Appalling”? Really? Starvation (when we throw away enough food to feed the world) is appalling. Wanting someone to join a club with certain rules that you don't subscribe to…appalling? Uh, no.
By the way, how the heck are ya?

Well, I totally get why you would think that organized religion is a horror…..but there are worst things. Perhaps it would be fair to say there are other – equally – horrifying things out there.
Religion can be horrifying. When folks burn people in the name of the LORD……
The thing is Stu, I think that if Jesus were walking the earth right now…..he would find the majority of churches horrific as well.
Cheers!

Thats a pretty broad statement don't you think? How would you know this if you have not been to the majority of the churchs?
Is it gossip or rumor? Don't you think it is wrong to prototype the majority of churchs?
Blessings WJ
July 4, 2009 at 8:45 pm#136109CindyParticipantW.J. I somewhat agree with Mandy. Just listen to some so called ministers on the T.V. All it is in some Churches is about money. It is an easy living. I like to tell you about the Baptist Church our Son belongs too, and where we went for awhile. Every year they give a Statement out on what the money is spend on. The ministers House Paym. His Car Paym. His Electric Bill and Insurance Bill, is all payed by the Church fund. What Job can you think of that gives you all of that? None I can think of. I am so looking forward for Christ to come, all will be straitened out then.
Peace and Love IreneJuly 4, 2009 at 9:14 pm#136118StuParticipantI think if Jesus walked for a SECOND time, he would be horrified at what Paul had invented in his name.
Not3 where does Paul say to get rid of all the nasty bits and sex-up the gospels? It was he who poured out bile about living arrangements and homosexuality. I think excise Paul and leave Jesus, and you might have a more pleasant delusion to believe in!
Just my NSHO.

July 4, 2009 at 10:07 pm#136128Not3in1ParticipantHi Stu,
Quote I think if Jesus walked for a SECOND time, he would be horrified at what Paul had invented in his name.
Perhaps it wasn't Paul though…..perhaps it was all the other “inspired” men who came after him and altered his letters? I don't really know, and none of us can know. I realize there are those who believe every word remains inspired because God can do anything, but I disagree for many reasons.I understand that you have a beef with Paul of Tarsus, and that's fine. I'm just saying that a lot happened after the initial words were spoken and written down (imo).
Quote where does Paul say to get rid of all the nasty bits and sex-up the gospels?
Titus 2:10
and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.Quote I think excise Paul and leave Jesus, and you might have a more pleasant delusion to believe in! Again, I think Paul might be getting a bum break. But we won't know until it is revealed (when and if it is).

July 4, 2009 at 10:36 pm#136129Not3in1ParticipantHi Keith,
Quote Thats a pretty broad statement don't you think? How would you know this if you have not been to the majority of the churchs?
Well, I certainly haven't been to every church on earth, but I have been to scads of them! I have personally known many pastor's, and been in full time ministry for years. I get the jist of the many brands out there. Sure, there are some awesome churches, don't get me wrong, but I dare say, the majority are not. Just using a very simple averaging formula, I can think of 10 churches right now – and over half of them have had some serious problems. Problems that Jesus would find horrifying, I'm sure. And that was the thrust of what Stu and I were discussing.
Quote Is it gossip or rumor? Don't you think it is wrong to prototype the majority of churchs?
You mean, is it wrong for me to have my own opinion? Here is a broad, sharing her broad opinion……I think most modern organized religions have failed people miserably. And…..I think Jesus would agree!
Stay cool (it's hot here….way too hot!).

Prove it to them, with an irrefutable proof.Pascal's wager isn't actually that bad an argument, but nothing is quite as good as a nice solid proof.
