Hi,
Mt 15
21Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.22And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
So here Jesus heals someone from outside of Israel- having said that he was sent to the lost sheep of Israel. So his mission while he lived was to them but his actions show love and mercy made exceptions.
His actions and his words are recorded for all men and will not pass away till heaven and earth do and God intends that all men feed hungrily on them for they are Spirit and life.
We also have no other Master to go to.
November 18, 2008 at 10:56 pm#112170NickHassanParticipantHI,
So the words can be aligned with the commission of the disciple in Mt 10
1And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.2Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;
3Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;
4Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
5These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
6But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
9Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,
10Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
11And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.
12And when ye come into an house, salute it.
13And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
15Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
16Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
17But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
18And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.
19But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
20For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
21And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
22And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
23But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
24The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
So they too worked in the name of Jesus preaching the kingdom of God to the Jewish people.
One of those sent to Israel was Peter but God had plans to enlarge that commission and showed peter in Acts 10 that ALL men are now invited into that one kingdom.
God is no respecter of persons.34Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
36The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
37That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
39And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
40Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
41Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
42And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
43To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
November 18, 2008 at 11:02 pm#112172chosenoneParticipantHeed His words. He also commanded His deciples “go not into the land of the gentiles”. Understand?
November 18, 2008 at 11:13 pm#112174NickHassanParticipantCO,
Peter was given further instructions.November 19, 2008 at 1:02 am#112178chosenoneParticipantBut never exercised them!
November 19, 2008 at 10:04 pm#112200NickHassanParticipantCO,
Peter was the instrument used by God to save the gentiles with, and including Cornelius.November 19, 2008 at 11:34 pm#112206chosenoneParticipantPaul was the one “commissioned” to the Gentiles.
November 20, 2008 at 12:13 am#112210NickHassanParticipantCO,
Did Peter speak to Cornelius and his friends, all gentiles?
Did he order that, having seen God's hand adminster the Spirit to them, that they also be baptised in water?November 20, 2008 at 12:35 am#112211NickHassanParticipantCO,
Jesus spoke with and ministered to gentiles.
Do you think he was not allowed to do so?November 20, 2008 at 12:56 am#112212NickHassanParticipantCO,
Was Peter out of line ministering to gentiles?
Or is the merciful will of God greater than your expectations?November 20, 2008 at 1:22 am#112213chosenoneParticipantJesus felt compassion for everyone, He would help anyone, Jew and Gentile, if asked. But this does not negate the fact that His commission was to “the lost sheep of the house of Israel”.
November 20, 2008 at 1:25 am#112214NickHassanParticipantCO,
WE know that.
But clearly that was and is not the extent of his role.
He still is bringing in men, jew and gentile alike, into his and God's kingdom.Lk16
16The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.November 20, 2008 at 1:25 am#112215chosenoneParticipantJesus was mercifull to all, Jew or Gentile. But this does not negate the fact that He was commissioned to “the lost sheep of the house of Israel”.
November 20, 2008 at 1:34 am#112223NickHassanParticipantCOP,
We know that.
But the works of God through him extended beyond that commission.The works of Jesus continue even now through his body of earth.
His words still are spirit and life to those who receive them.
November 28, 2008 at 5:54 am#112578chosenoneParticipantYou say in the previous post: …But the works of God through him extended beyond that commission.
We would be pleased if you would show us the scripture that says that.
November 28, 2008 at 7:24 am#112579NickHassanParticipantCO,
I do not think we need stop our ears.
Jesus Christ has the words of eternal life.November 28, 2008 at 9:17 pm#112607chosenoneParticipantI would be pleased if you show the scripture, we don't need teaching that is non-scripural. I expect you won't quote the scripture asked for, because it doesn't exist. No manmade philosophy please.
November 28, 2008 at 10:25 pm#112610NickHassanParticipantHi,
Anyone else out there to help rescue this person?November 29, 2008 at 12:17 am#112613chosenoneParticipantSeeing as you have no scripture to prove your “one eternal gospel for all”. A non-biblical false taught heresy, it is useless to carry on discussing this. This will be my final post on this subject.
Blessings.
November 29, 2008 at 12:43 am#112617NickHassanParticipantExcellent,
Now those who can listen to the Master will be enabled to do so.
We love his eternal words. - AuthorPosts
