I heard on the news that a meteor hit the South Island today.

It happened way south of us, on this bigger island than where you live, so we did not see it.

There is a small Island called Clauda. Is that you? Did any coconuts fall off with the meteor?

No coconut trees, but we have Nikau Palms.

The Nikaus at Civic Square are made of metal. They actually cost NZ $25,000 each.

Funny you should say that. We had an earthquake last night. Did you feel it there? Did you mud hut fall down?

I was on the computer and thought someone big was walking toward me as I heard the noise. The door then pushed in against my back and thought who was that? It was a little scary coz it was past midnight. I opened the door fully and expected to see an intruder, then the whole house rocked violently for like 2-3 seconds only.

I was releaved it was only an earthquake. Funny that, but it was a better option than an intruder.
