Hi,
Those who would make salvation a black and white affair do not know our God. We have a gospel to preach and it is the way of Jesus but God is not as harsh as men would paint Him. God is love and He loves to show mercy.
Mercy even triumphs over judgement. The world looks at sin but God knows we are all encumbered by it even after rebirth.
Man is incapable of righteousness, the ruler of this world has been judged and the sin that causes death relates to failure to believe in the one sent by God.
Even so there is mercy for the moments of love ignorant men offer to others including the sons of God. The meek shall inherit the earth and the merciful and forgiving shall find mercy and forgiveness.June 11, 2007 at 3:21 am#55238seekingtruthParticipantNick,
I agree1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
1 Timothy 1:13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.
James 2:13 because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!

Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.Do you see how the new birth opens our eyes to our own unrighteous condition? Without that, we would judge every action of good, or mercy, by our own standards, instead of by the standard of perfection which is in Christ. Only we who are in Christ can judge our own works rightly, and we know our works are as filthy rags to God.
If a person can be in some intermediate stage between saved and unsaved, then I am quite at a loss as to any scripture reference that might support reveal it.

All is grace but the door to grace is wide open.
We do not know and do not have and we cannot do
because we do not seek and do not knock and do not ask.2Peter 1
2Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
But yet though the beginning is easy being clothed with Christ,
the process of Christ being born into us is slow and painfulGal 4

Well spoken! Amen.I used to believe that it was cut and dry. I used to be motivated by fear. The church told me there was only one correct way and one correct belief, and faith. Those who did not fall in line were not saved and would be damned to eternal hell fire.
I've since learned that mercy is given freely from the throne room. We are all bound over to whatever we have to endure so that God may have mercy on us ALL.

Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.1 Peter 4:8

According to the NT, Jesus is the Way to Mercy.Mercy was not extended to the disobedient in the desert; they were taken by the sword of their brother at the LORD's command. It seems that today we can wander all we like in the desert and mercy still falls down on us because of the cross.
Mercy triumphs over judgement.

No.
That is Jn 10.
The sheep of Mt 25 were most surprised to be saved after the second resurrection.June 30, 2008 at 11:15 pm#95229NickHassanParticipantHi,
Some claim God will forgive all and all will find mercy.
Scripture shows a different view.Psalm 25:10
All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.Psalm 86:5
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. All who are true Israel will find mercy
Rom11
26And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:27For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.
29For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

Rom11
25For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.26And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

Some use this verse out of context to claim that is means all men are saved.
It does not take much study to see this letter written to the saved does not say that.July 17, 2008 at 5:18 am#97943ShaniaParticipantHis mercy is what drives us to repentance. When we repent, we “turn back” to Him. [there is a dictionary def that says repentance is doing a 180).
This is all about fellowship and relationship with Him. He created us for relationship with Him and He wants us desparately, but our sin stands in the way. Because of His great love for us, He is merciful to show us our sin so that we can turn away from it and be with Him.
Discipline is a form of mercy.
