Quote (davidbfun @ July 15 2010,02:04) IMO YHVH is a title meaning Lord whereas Melchizedek is His name; David
Hi David,You got things backwards,
LORD is a “Title”; and NOT a Name!
Melchizedek means: “King of Righteousness”.
[מלך] Mĕh-lĕk means King, [צדיק] tzĕdĕk means righteous.
God's Name: [יהוה] YÄ-hä-vā translates directly into English as YHVH.Witnessing to the world in behalf of YHVH (Psalm 45:17)
117=יהוה האלהים (JEHOVAH GOD) YÄ-hä-vā hä ĔL-ō-Hêêm!

The answer is….
dun dun dun
Not enough information.
————It's impossible to understand who mekelzedek is based on what is written.
You have no idea the implications of what is being said about him.
————To say he has no mother or father, can mean he appeared out of the blue….or it could be he had no recorded geneology.
————
Because his name means king of peace, doesn't mean he really is/was the king of peace.
How many hispanic Jesus' do you see running around, but we know they aren't the messiahs.
Yes Abraham paid tithes to him, he aparently was a superior and according to him being the king of salem…he was the king of jerusalem.
What are the implications?
We don't know…
so everything said here is at best speculation.
It's starting to make christianity sound like a polytheistic science-fiction book.

Some translate to peace others say righteous. It doesn't matter, the point being drawn was that, just because that was his name, doesn't mean that is who he is.
You sound like my GF, who likes arguing about details that are irrelevant to the point.
A huge pet peeve of mine.

Melchizedek was a priest of the Most High God, which eliminates him from being the Most High, so what are the options? Personally, I believe Melchizedek was the Word of God. This would tie up the loose ends and make it more in line with Jesus being after the order of Melchizedek because Jesus was the Word made flesh, born as man whereas Melchizedek was not born, but appeared.
NickThis guy has wisdom.
Where's he gone?
I'd like to talk to him.April 11, 2014 at 12:35 am#377264journey42ParticipantQuote (Oxy @ June 20 2010,13:42) Melchizedek cannot be a man having no family.
He cannot be God Himself and be a priest of God at the same time.
He cannot be an angel because an angel cannot be a priest.
But he could be the Word appearing as a man, because the Word is the High Priest of God.
NickAnother good answer he gave.

I agree; Oxi hits the nail on the head.
And the rest had to go against the truth.
There are some with the same spirit,in connection with the spirit of the scriptures. The many are out; off frequency.wakeup.

And just as you as a man have not appeared in several generations neither did Jesus?
It was just a fond opinion of yours?
Jesus did not appear in several generations, but the Word of God spoke to people in the Old Testament in excess of 100 times before the Word was made flesh.I am fond of this teaching. It is more than an opinion Nick. God has taught me.
NickGod did teach him indeed.

Indeed the Spirit of Christ ministered to those in the desert and inspired the prophets[1peter1]April 11, 2014 at 1:04 am#377277journey42ParticipantQuote (Oxy @ June 13 2010,19:55) Melchizedek was the priest of the Most High God (as Jesus was)
King of righteousness and of peace, as was Jesus,
He received the tithe which was due God.
Abraham was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him, how could this be except he was the Word of God?I'm not saying I have all the answers on this, but Melchizedek was either man or God, and He wasn't man as such and because He was a priest, I suggest He was the Word of God in the flesh.. not to be mistaken for Jesus for Jesus came later, born as the Son of God.
NickI started reading the scriptures at 12.
I was given this understanding when I was about 34.
I am 45 now.
God held this back from me until I had a good foundation first.
And the reason why it took so long is because
I had to fall from grace first,
make mistakes and suffer the consequences.
He pulled me out of the darkness,
with only a bible in my hand. That's all I had, and he started feeding me.
It wasn't until I introduced the scriptures to a friend of mine who was an aetheist. She started to study, and her views changed.
I introduced her to Wakeup once, and she rang him one night.
She raised the question to him regarding Melchizedek
and he meditated over it, and went over and over those scriptures.
He showed me.
I understood and we rejoiced,
this just took it to a new level.
I went telling everyone, but no one cared.
I started to really understand “the Word of God” then,
and It just opened the doors to a real deeper understanding.
And it took someone to show me.
I never figured it out myself,
but in the end, knowledge was shared, and because I understood,
that knowledge was given to me also.
I was hungry for truth, and I got it.This man called Oxy, was shown too,
and we speak the same language on this topic.April 11, 2014 at 1:10 am#377279NickHassanParticipantHi,
heb 7
For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth part of all the spoils, was first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace. 3 Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually.4 Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the choicest spoils.
Observe how great this MAN was..

Thats right Nick.
The Word of God was always there, and could materialise into a tree, a rock, the man Melkisekek, and eventually, Jesus Christ.
God did not materialise, but his Word did.If you have gained understanding now, then you need to declare it, not just cover up, because you opposed the truth back then, and that is serious. We need to humble ourselves when corrected. If you understand clearly now, then It's God that has shown you. Someone else watered, and God gave the increase.
He never leaves us alone in all this, but works in mysterious ways, everything is for our benefit, because he wants that spirit of truth in us, and not the spirit of error. This is what will separate the goats from the sheep.

heb 7
For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
I love the way God uses allegory to speak of Melchizedek of whom no parentage was KNOWN or RECORDED to show the unique role of Jesus Christ

Are you of the dogma that says Jesus lived as a being of some kind and appeared on earth before he was even conceived in his mother's womb?April 11, 2014 at 1:26 am#377288journey42ParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ April 11 2014,12:16) Hi j42,

Hi NickHebrews 7:4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
That's right. Observe how great this man was (Melchisedek).
Abraham was God's favourite of all time, and Abraham is giving tithes to him, the King of Peace and Righeousness.
Consider how great Melchisedek was.
Then Consider how great he is now, even greater. He was called a great man because the The Word manifested into a man. He didn't appear to Abraham as a spirit did he, or a rock?, but a man.
