Quote (Adam Pastor @ April 27 2007,23:34) Quote (942767 @ April 27 2007,04:58) There is only one High Priest, the Lord Jesus, and so, Melchizedek had to have died although there is not record of his death, but that spirit lives on. God Bless
Hi 94 …have a look at these …

Hi AdamPastor:Thanks for these articles. We know that God does not make any mistakes, and so he had a purpose for the way he has prsented Melchizedek, but for me, it is not easy to understand, but God is not dead so we can ask him to give us understanding of his intentions for this.
Basically, I believe he did this to symbolize the difference between the Levitical priesthood and the Priesthood of Jesus, but also, it is said the the name Melchisedek king of righteousness and King of peace. Which of course Jesus is this. It appears that this was mostly addressed to the Jewish people so that they could understand the transition from the Levitical Priesthood to the Priesthood of Jesus.
In one of the articles to which you refer me, it is said that the Greek word translated “without father” does not mean fatherless but only that his father is not recorded in the genealogies. This I did not know and so it helps.
Thanks for your help and God Bless you and your family.
May 20, 2007 at 1:54 am#52645NickHassanParticipantHi U,
Christ was of Judah, not Levi.
Hebrews 7:5
And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
Hebrews 7:11
If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
Hebrews 7:12
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
Hebrews 7:14
For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
Heb 7
14For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.15And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
16Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
17For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
July 27, 2007 at 10:58 pm#61858NickHassanParticipantHi MrS,
We cannot say Christ has no beginning because of Melchizedek.
Christ is the Son opf God and all sons have beginnings.
Melchizedek was a man and men have beginnings. It is just that that beginning is not recorded so used as a symbol of the eternality of the priesthood.
Eternal in itself is not necessarily a retrospective term or we could not be given eternal life.
July 28, 2007 at 12:17 am#61872michaelsParticipantwho was this man,he tithed bread and wine to abraham, and gave him a blessing, for abraham had nothing to tith being that he just went out to get his kin back, god delivered everything into his hands, yet he would take nothing, its so clear who was tithing to who,for who brought the bread and wine to give of all he had, abraham, dident have because nothing was his and he said he would not take anything lest they said they made him rich.so who wrote hebrews was it the scribes who just wanted more money?,because money was there god!?

July 28, 2007 at 1:19 am#61877NickHassanParticipantHim,
If it was not for hebrews you would not know the relevance of Melchizedek and many other things.

January 14, 2008 at 1:25 am#78474NickHassanParticipantHi Colter,
Only the JWs think Jesus was Michael and without anything to go on except some hopeful implications.
I think Michael had enough to do himself with working with the people of God to be another being as well.
He is ONE OF the Princes , but Messiah is the Prince of princes[Dan]January 14, 2008 at 1:30 am#78477NickHassanParticipantHi colter,
Myths and legends.
Always popular.
Harry Potter is the rave here at the moment.January 14, 2008 at 1:42 pm#78567acertainchapParticipantI find it ironic that people would give up the truth of The Bible and/or choose it over something that is popular and untruthful such as myths, or legends, or harry potter, etc. Myths and legends can be of great interest. Myself, I don't choose them over my faith in God.

January 17, 2008 at 7:59 am#79071LaurelParticipantmalkedzedick is a Hebrew word meaning a kingly line, and a very specific kingly line from Adam to Y'shua. The birthright.
You want to understand Hebrew? Ask a Jew who believes!!!
April 9, 2008 at 7:06 pm#86515NickHassanParticipantHi,
In another thread colter said
“Melchizedek was/is a subordinate spiritual being who incarnate in the flesh and remained loyal to the Father in his revelatory ministry of the ONE God. “
But scripture said
Heb7
” 4Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. “Gen14
“18And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High.”When the Hebrews began writing down the oral traditions handed down to them, the Melchizedek story was just to unbelievable to them just as the Jesus story is to unbelievable to some now so they had God himself coming down, walking around on the earth and making the covenant with Abraham. It was actually Melchizedek who worked with Abraham from his Salem school. Melchizedk sent out monotheist missionaries to the four corners of the earth. Those missionaries influenced many of the world religions that we have today.”
Is it written?
“So it is not strange that these fragments of the distant past, be they ever so misunderstood by the scriptural commentary, we would have these pieces of those days preserved. Melchizedek was the forerunner of the coming son. After his departure, Melchizedk continued to work with the prophets, keeping the hope alive of the coming Son to the least of all his created worlds:”
Is it written?
He is surely a type of the Son as eternal priest with no record of his geneology either.Hebrews 7
Melchizedek the Priest
1This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, 2and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, his name means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” 3Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God he remains a priest forever.
4Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder! 5Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people—that is, their brothers—even though their brothers are descended from Abraham. 6This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. 7And without doubt the lesser person is blessed by the greater. 8In the one case, the tenth is collected by men who die; but in the other case, by him who is declared to be living. 9One might even say that Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham, 10because when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor.”
